Anyone know if an ID screen on a CZ-5 can be replaced-Do It Yourself style?

Got a CZ-5 from a for sale ad, that said "VERY NICE"
IT AIN'T!!!
It's a worn out "looking" mess, but functions. The screen is so scratched and marred, plus debris / crap even on the inside, so, I'd like to replace it. I just don't want to try without seeking advice first.
Anyone ever do this?
Thanks!
Chuck

Following is what a dealer told me----- The meters(screen) isnot available becuase it contains mercury. I suspect to replace the meter u would have to find a used one. The plastic over the meter --call fisher

The window/jewel should be replacable if its not sealed to the meter..I dont think it is though, I think the jewel is separate from the meter..

One thing I do with old scratched meters is to get hold of some Meguires plastic restore for dash panels and headlights in cars...it will do wonders for the type palstic you have on a CZ..I have brought many a 5900 faces back to a sparkle just as long as the scratch's are fine and not deep...the deep ones wont come out......
