Friends CZ6A sounds like it has a small article rattling when he turn it side to side..Talked to a Fisher Tech and he doesn't have a prayer with exception of sending in to take apart...Anyone ever have this problem.
Problem developed in shipping and has me stumped....any help appreciated....Dan

Hey dan from what ive encountered with rattling things inside of detectors its usually dried up brittle silicone of sorts....the battery pods probably have a sealent of silicone on the inside where the wires hook to the springs.this is to keep moisture out of the inside of the box or leaky batterys...after 20+ years it will become brittle....

Ive had quite a few machines even new ones that have stuff inside floatiing around when rotated....I doubt a resistor or capacitor or somthing has come undone...you would know it...

most likely either dried sealent or maybe a piece of plastic has gotten brittle and broke loose like a clip that holds the board to the faceplate or something...

the only thing that could be of concern is if its a bit of solder thats been lodged inside since new maybe intangled in the wires when being built and has held there till now being shipped...a piece of solder though will have a mettalic sound compared to plastic or dried silicone...

Tom should Know if theres some small nuts inside there...but again a small nut would spound like metallic..

May be a contact lens or a set of dentures.

Probably a mud dabber nest. Crawled through the headphone jack and made a home :-)

If I remember correctly, there are only two screws holding the insides to the housing. Don't remember if they're accessible from the outside of the back or if you have to remove the batteries to get to them. Once out, just pull on the front face of the detector and the face plate with all the circuit boards are connected to it. Don't pull too far as the battery wires will still be connected from one of the circuit boards to the detector housing battery container. Easy to do and you shouldn't have any problems at all. Reassemble in reverse.

One of the 'front-end'...... to...... 'main' circuit board screws came loose (most probable).
