Having used both over the years kind of foggy memory but don't think so....give Fisher a call and get it from the horses mouth....

Yes they share the same coils, I've had both at the same time and switched a 10-1/2" coil in and out between the two.

Ahh the 1236 X2......The original Bleedy Audio.....

The 1236 went A different route for fisher....they made a machine to Be quite in trash like a tesoro....but also left the option to make it noisy in trash too like the earlier 12xx 1265/1266 models yet not the full tilt noise they had.......

And what they did in my opinion is make one fo the best all time sleepers from them...

There was just the right amount of target rejection bleed through to allow for Mineral see through and also the way the unit unmasked in iron using 5Khz was amazing..I pulled some great buttons out of iron with that unit. Was way hot on nickle range objects in iron.. really a great relic machines and also a coin hunter to boot...My only 2 center to date 1866 come out of a nail infested Pit....And my only 2 reale to date 177? and my only second reale Ive ever dug come out of a nail pit...

The 1236 when setup with the silencer off and just enough disc to silence a nail and adding the 5 inch coil to the mix will do suprising things ....It loves round items...I dont think its coincidence that it found those hard to get coins in my area by luck....Not valuable coins but hard to find all the same..

I was not impressed with the 10.5" on the 1236 no dpeth gain but weight gain.....but the 5 inch is a must.. a Super 6 is awesome if you can locate one also....and the 5x10 Elliptical concentric is a great asset to have for certian situtations..but the 5 inch fisher coil is a must have Option for iron work...

Enjoy that unit..All the 12XX coils work I believe...I even used a 1265 solid 8 once...but the 8" stock inch spider was HOTTER/DEEPER..

Understand they worked well to a degree on some saltwater beach enviroments...Just something I read as CZ and older sov's were all I used and tough to call a winner as both performed well...
