After reading Tom's older article on how a rusty everyday staple can mask targets below it,
has anyone ever built a coil that has detection pattern at an angle instead of straight north south?
Would not a 30 or 45 degree side approach help see masked targets? I realize depth would
suffer...

seems to me that you could just tilt your coil and get the same results (something I do on occasion) , but you would still get a masking effect from anything between your coil and the target.
