That would be a good idea. Maybe they could help come up with something interesting. I wish they would bring back the 1266x. A darn good detector... KEN

Two Tesoro Compadres, One Silver uMax, , and one Whites Surfmaster 2 , Fisher 1266x

Mike Scott is a world class person and has detected just about everywhere. He is a very cool guy that loves the hobby and is really good at it. So hands off him as for the rest that is like building cars and not driving them maybe that is the problem with that company

The reason a company Like Nokta or Deeptech and even XP can implement change is the man in charge is also the man who uses his product and builds his product and can make changes rather quickly..Plus its their name on the line if problems arise...they have to pay the bills so they know they have to do what it takes..

other companys are larger and compartmentalized...

My thoughts are that Fisher is a lot larger company. It would take a lot of money even to make small changes to a detector that was already in production. Smaller companys can do it for a lot less investment.
Fisher is doing Ok, and they will be around for a long time. I like that I can call and actually speak to a tech guy. All they need to do is get their quality control to a level higher than it is. Maybe a calibration certificate
with each detector. This would hold someone accountable. I think there are some big things coming from Fisher..... But Big things take time.

Isn't he a big T2 LTD user?

I think they're (First Texas) too busy pushing low and mid-range overlapping detector models/brands to every nook and cranny possible so as to keep pushing the numbers higher (at all costs)....these buyers probably wouldn't notice that the performance wasn't up to par for their particular unit....

Anyone know how long a product is tested for before production run ?

The low end (bounty hunter) is their bread and butter. We that want more are just a very minute piece of the pie.... 99% of the consumers probably wouldn't know they had a sub-par unit. Craigslist and other local advertising outlets are choked with $100 +/- BH units

yep, I totally agree, we're a tiny minority (conscious consumers) but it is a sad plight none-the-less....

there must be a huge number of low-end models sitting in closets unused...

I know he detects and posts here. Lately it is to diffuse negative fisher reviews. But it says nothing to the the heavy hunter who receives a bad unit. He has his and others have theirs. The

Hey lowboy I have no doubt that Mike Scott is a great guy, world class person. But , I really think that fisher makes a great detector. The only problem is quality control. And.. the other problem is(and this pertains to us, the real detecting guys). You buy one and you always wonder ? Is mine working correctly? Is it up to its potential? Is it better than my hunting buddy who also has a fisher?

These companies that stood for metal detecing are gobbled up by larger ones...... they now answer to the bean counters of those companies. Fishter isnt the first ..... ML hasnt been much better and we pay BIG bucks for their equipment. Maximise profit.... and produce a DO IT ALL MACHINE..... that is particially OUR fault. We want to go to an ALL you can eat place, get it without waiting, and get it cheap. No one likes to get a less than perfect machine.... but everyone expects it fixed and how they handle that will go a long way. Been there with the wondering if my machine is working right..... that comes with most new machines i get my hands on for a while anyway. Test gardens and time with the machine helps. Sometimes people talk up their machine which gets you to buy one.... then you think yours is crap. Was it the machine?
