If it was about a couple of inches deeper than the current G2......I'd snatch one up.

Yeah...but my guess is ..it aint. Yawn.

I second that yawn Ray they are going after a different market I feel sorry for the dealers that don't carry the deus or a few detectors from the other side of the pond. They are not going to sell to a lot of us we are already on a different path on this forum. We don't want seconds we want the next step in getting us closer to what is being hid by iron and lack of depth.

I think the reset button just got hit on detector prices.

Remember when the Garrett Ace 250 came out? It rocked the detector world with what it delivered for the price when introduced. The competition was not happy at all with Garrett!

This is not quite as earth shaking as that, but look at the F19 at MSRP $899 discounted to $799. Teknetics has historically cost even more but let's assume $899 on G2+ discounted to $799

The along comes the Racer in base configuration for MSRP $649. I am not sure there will be any discounting at all initially but at some point $599 would be easy to imagine. That is a $200 differential.

I have no doubt the powers that be at First Texas will just blow it off as an inconsequential move by an unknown player. It will be interesting to look back in a year or two and see how this all played out.

I agree Steve. Now will Minelab take notice and get a little more affordable!

Not this year. Though I think this will be the year Minelab hits the wall with ever increasing prices, and will after 2015 have to pay attention to the fact that others want to eat their lunch.

I'd be willing, as I'm sure others are also, to pay dearly for an FBS II machine in a 705 type enclosure/package....3.5 lbs max (and good balance) would do it....

How about FBS 3. Where it's always using multi freq but you can select primary freq. I hear the primary freq of FBS is either 3khz or 7khz. It would be cool if you could run say the 3khz or 7khz or 15khz or 30khz as a primary freq. and of course in a weatherproof lighter robust modern housing. Oh yea and a boost mode.

That is the problem. You should not be willing to pay dearly. We are already paying a premium for the CTX due to the water resistant housing. The same detector in a simple, light weight housing should cost less, not more.

I could have been wrong. Maybe Minelab can keep the upward price trajectory going for longer than I think. As long as they can continue to deliver the cutting edge tech they pretty much can name their price.

Funny Ray!

It sure would be nice to see a depth improvement on the F19/G2+ (and all machines for that matter)

but

at the same time

I just purchased a 1 month old F19 in pristine cond. for a price I couldn't refuse after having searched for one ever since Keith snatched the 1st one up about a month ago that I had my eye on!

Main reason being though (at least for me) and in my experience

the GBP/F19/G2 is very hot on certain "buttons" that other machines just can not see and being a button guy more so than a coin hunter - I need the best I can get to give me an edge in finding what I'm looking for.

It's also hot on certain gold targets that other machines struggle to see (which is also higher on my list to find more so than coins) unless you're talking "gold coins"!
