LoL

INSANE is more the word that comes to mind for me Keith!

10k for a freekin metal detector!? Come ON!!

You can buy GPR systems for less than that!

The avg. Joe will never even hold one of these machines in his hands much less actually "own" one!

I bet they sell like hotcakes once gold gets up to $9000 an ounce.

Maybe they should have called it the GPZ 9999 !!! Woner if it comes with a pillow case? Cause if I paid that much that's exactly where it would be at night, under my pillow.

The GPZ 7000 cost over $10 Million to develop over 5 years going by the report below.

I think Minelab need to build another version of this machine with an 11" coil and only has the small gold timing built in that is 85% as deep
as the 7000 with no gps mapping. This would target another market and fill the void for those that want a small gold detector with a robust
design.

I am expecting at least 2 (could be as high as 4) new Gold PI detectors to come out from different manufacturers
in the next 18 months.

Interesting times ahead..

Not that bad as a serious tool for a serious prospector . I doubt it will be a hit with the hobbyist though unless they have money to burn and an ego to massage .

I never have seen like a huge building housing all the equipment and all the R&D engineers working feverishly on any of the ML vids. It's always that same one guy sitting at a small bench with one oscilloscope. I'm sure he's paid well.

There is more than 50 presold here in Australia and many are hobbyists.

I think the figure could be higher.

For the money though I want to see some target identification capability.

I wonder though how much the coils will be..

I think paying $5000 for a GPX for relic hunting is insane, but if the 7000 is out by DIV, someone will have one.

If it made the difference between a little gold and a lot of gold found it would make good sense to own one or two. If I were in good gold country I fear I would be living in the gold patches . Finding gold could be very addictive I am afraid ....

$5000 for a GPX IS insane. Especially when they are about $2000 less than that if you price around smiling smiley It's the same with the GPZ. ..the price you are seeing is MAP. Manufacturer's Advertising Price. Minelab sets/regulates what price their dealers can openly advertise their products. That's why there is never a variance of price from dealer website to website. Think of it like a sticker price on a new car. When you get serious enough to buy, the dealer can sell for whatever price they want as long as they aren't advertising at that price.

The price across the board here in Australia going by
what others have said on forums is $10,700.

I really wonder how many of those buying this machine
though have actaully used an 14" coil as standard size coil
and just wonder how much an 11" coil is worth for the gpz7000.

Sanjuro you have to wear special rose colored glasses to see the gpz7000 ads on FMall. The glasses are available on eBay for big $$$, but Brian may be willing to sell his.

Sounds like a great detector for Minelab, Only wish it had some form of disc would get one in heartbeat for the purpose of relic hunting and prospecting. For now, It's the ATX.

Maybe the next version will have disc?
