If you could have just 1 detector which 1
March 13, 2015 07:23AM
If you could only have 1 detector and 1coil for all your hunting needs which detector would you pick? I know most of us have multiple detectors, 1 for relic hunting, coin shooting, beach hunting, water hunting etc....for me, It would be the CZ6a 8" coil. or the CZ 21 8" coil that way I could hunt land and sea.

Garrrett AT PRO or Deus.

Garrett AT-Gold a close second would be a CZ-5 112 serial number.

XP Deus with 9 inch coil, or Tesoro Tejon with 9x8 (but I'd sure miss a small coil!)

Deus. The versatility of the Deus would allow me to hunt almost anywhere.

Deus with 9" coil and WS4 headphones. It's not my all time favorite unit...but if I only could have one today...it would be the...Deus. It"s lightweight...durable...can be updated...fairly deep...and just looks good.

I'm partial to the E-Trac but mine is going up for sale - just tired of the weight/balance.
The Signum is deeper and faster so I think I would go with that... wait, that is what I am doing - will be my only detector.
Fast machine but not super fast, fine for my type of coin hunting. The sounds are pleasant but I will miss the E-Trac sounds.
Someday Minelab will make a light CTX like machine I imagine...

I like the ones that have the later white serial number sticker they also have the plastic arm cuff, of the two I've had their numbers started with 112 so I've never tried a 115. Is it a hot one?

Xp deus would be my choice with 9" coil.

AKA Berkut 5 with the 6" 14khz coil works for me for coins and jewelry, or the 6x10 if I want to do deeper.

DeepTech Vista X with 3 search coils.
Works for me

Just because he is so wise, I would have to go with whatever detector Nexus told me to get..........

White's TDI Pro with mod to smooth threshold---I primarily nugget, meteorite, and deep woods CW relic hunt. It is deeeeeeeep. I already have 2 ML PI's and prefer the TDI.

Digital CZ where you could notch should cover most situations...Of course in water would need a water unit and gold nugget surely need one made for that purpose. Guess it depends on what facets of the hobby one engages in...Honestly even if your types are limited one would need two horses in the corral...

I always liked the Sovereign and CZ5 but I would go with the Tejon with 5x10 wide scan. Great depth and separation.

Omega with 11" DD or ATP with 5x8" coil.

...I'd have my prototype Sov XS2a with 8" coil that was hand wound by Bruce Candy!

I would stick with the deus that I have and add the new update coming that could be a game changer

I wil take my cz-3d with the 8in.coil for the type of places i hunt. Mostly places that have not seen any activity for better than a hundred years (campmeeting grounds, old fairgrounds, chautauqua sites). The fourth tone has brought me some trimes, half-dimes, shield nickels, and the older indians that would have been mid tone without it. And if i get in an area that's trashy my 5in. coil. I am one that pokes along so the slow sweep speed suits my style, Like DanPa says the cz's are user friendly.

Make mine a Tesoro Tiger Shark, I have the coil adapter so I could use any of the Epsilon (5 pin µMax) coils. But if I could only have one coil, it would be the 8" concentric. The TS is good on land and water and with a straight rod set up, it balances out the weight, those 200 feet dive rated control casings are hefty for a reason.

CTX 3030 with the six inch coil.
Re: If you could have just 1 detector which 1

extremely hard choice for me as I have owned and love both but I would have to go with the CTX 3030 as an all arounder. I sure do like the deus also though...

Deus with 9" and for very deep coins 11"x13" coil.

I'd take the F75 LTD2 with the 11" coil. Not a popular choice I suppose, but the one for me.

Today I would have to say an E-trac with the Sunray X-8 coil. But if you ask me next week I might say the CZ-3D with the stock 8'' coil. These are my 2 Big Guns with the XL-PRO getting honorable mention.

Cz-21 with 8" coil or Tiger Shark 8" coil

From the GA-FL line

Silver microMax, CTX 3030, Excal 2, ATPro

Well I am more than happy with my Makro Racer - its turned my hunted out areas into happy places again -

For value and a good machine to boot (and you can afford to lol) GF2

Both machines compliment each other and the GF2 is not going to bring tears to your eyes if you use it as a loaner and it gets knocked around a little -
