What do you guys know or think about it? I've been looking into new technology & I hope the good old whites is on to something. HH TIM

Where did you see info on this technology could be a good read.

Miner prospector. Com. Google it whites half sine wave patent. They were granted a patent on this new technology. A pi that discriminates.

That's good news to hear the week AFTER I buy a TDI-Pro.

Do not worry send in your TDI Pro with $2000 and Whites will apply the funds to their R&D efforts they will return your Hybrid TDI when they have it working in a few years. Or just use it for a year or two - may be that long before we see this new machine for sale and who knows how much it will cost.

Not exactly 'new'.
If you look carefully at the patent date, you'll see they've been working on it for over 4 years already.

It's been discussed here (and other sites) more than once, but I'm still excited to see it mentioned again.
And I'll admit it...I'll probably be one of the first in line for this one.

Looks good doesn't it?

From Shovler(in reference to white's two new machines):

"I have it on good authority that the PI/hybrid debuts at the end of the year "

Maybe this is the unit he was speaking about. I hope he is right as this machine will change the playing field.

Absolutely will shake things up. Now let's hope it doesn't cost $10000.00.

$10,000? It's not a Minelab.

Discrimination is the root of all evil.

Hope it does come out the end of the year. I wonder if it will follow the simplistic route with knobs and switches like MXT or will it be high tech color screen like V3i. Given all that is going on I am thinking more V3i like but could totally wrong. I think it will kill no matter how it comes out.

P.S. Fletch88 hope you did not mind my poor attempt at humor. Was not trying to offend or insult.

Bryanna, no offense taken whatsoever! I believe the TDI is such a classic design and versatile machine, it will stay in the lineup for a long time no matter what new gadgets they come out with! I did order it with the Aussie mono instead of the Dual Field coil since I don't plan on ever prospecting with it. I will be strictly relic and wet sand beach detecting and maybe give it a try at plucking high conductor coins in "hunted" out spots.

Mrand built a hybrid a few years back....says it runs vlf and P.I. at the same time...

Heres his reply to the unit he build's..

"Sorry, but LEM2 isn't "something" detector. This is the real hybrid PI and VLF systems which works simultaneously and are complementary to one another . Thanks to this is possible the large depth detection and very good iron discrimination. The detector works in the unique system of the static discrimination (this is similarly as TR but without the influence of ground). The search head does not contain inside any wires. There is made PCB technology. Therefore is exceptionally stable mechanically and thermically. The detector works simultaneously on two frequencies 1.25kHz and 5.5kHz. It has inside 2 processors. Is intended espetially to hard sapper works. It uses him many specialists. I have produced him for over 2 years for espetially order. Research works were over 5 years. LEM2 is probably first serial produced hybrid detector and there is nothing in common with Pulse Devil."
Mrand

I would love to try one myself..

Wow! Thank you Keith for sharing that! Man, I have many spots would like to try that out. First co. that can mass produce one that works well, should do very well.

John Earle is the engineer designed and patented the hybrid for Whites.

A very respected metal detector designer posted this on another forum in march. Let us meditate a bit on what he meant, because I'm sure he was dead serious.

"The good news is that I'm designing the perfect detector. The bad news is that almost nobody will like it."

Questions to meditate upon:

What is perfect?

If "almost nobody" will like it, then who are the "somebodies" who presumably will like it?

Why will they like it?

And, how does this justify his employer spending money in proceeding with this project?

Deep satl water machine maybe? Not many would use that one. I tell you for my water hunting if i had a PI with the ability to NULL over iron with reliability when i flip a switch id be happy. Almost got that with the Xcal now that everyone is doing the pin point mods.... we just need PI depth. Interesting machine if it could be put in a water tight box and hip mounted.... AND work in the water.
