Maiden voyage of new CZ3D...
June 18, 2015 01:00AM
Took a while but couldn't get out due to family problems...Went out after supper for about 1.5 hrs before the rain...Got a good deep signal and ended up with a bottle cap still on piece of jagged bottle. Got to wear gloves even in hot weather...About five feet from the bottlecap got a medium depth signal which turned out to be a 1901 Barber quarter in excellent shape..About 6 inches deep...15 minutes later got another good deep signal which turned out to be 10 inch 1914 crusty wheatie..Area was very junky so hunted in advanced mode for depth with max disc. Ran it at 6 sens. and ran stable and swinging a clad dime in front of coil must have got it at about a foot...Not bad as its not a Los Banos but the new version...from F.T.....

iron can be a good target on the CZ3 but very slow reactivity and not good in iron you will have to use the small coil and hope for the best

I think he meant "enhanced" mode!

Good save/s Dan - gotta love finding Barbers of any kind!

My bad on mode, thanks for clarification imagine it will get me more silver in near future...Had to smile on that on the iron post as this area was really trashy and no iron dug..
Still remember with original CZ6 over 20 years ago that rusty nail..iron problem took some time to figure out. Guess it pays to know your unit...
As far as the bottle cap being dug it was deep but covered a lot of area so should have known but it took me a while to get a good signal so sometimes I dig the iffies...

Way to go, Dan!

Doesn't sound like you need to hope for the best at all.

Makes a big difference, for sure. Pulling a nice Barber quarter out of trash is no small deal. Nicely done. smiling smiley

I think you did the right thing. I recently dug a similar 'wide area' signal, and it was indeed a bottle cap...and a nice Walker half...and a sharp 1909 wheat.

Welcome back to the CZ world, and look forward to hearing about more great finds!
