Cheap Vacation .......

I know everyone love's a cheap vacation but honestly do you think I (sycotoad) deserved it for calling someone names? -

Personally, I like hanging out in Makro/Nokta threads to learn about the metal detectors but the punch ups are getting ridiculous -

At least I know now why the standard of that site is the way it is - Its moderator driven

Well I just logged out of the not so FMDF a couple of days ago. Don't plan on logging in again for a while. It's apparent that some of the people over there are as childish as you can get and know how to play the moderators a bit. You cannot have a discussion about anything each person doesn't actually use himself without the "forum stalkers" let's call them, just being the way they are, and allowed to do what they do. Many more forums on the net to read and post on. It's a shame too, the first forum I actually started on was over there. Now it looks like the facebook crowd mostly, not even 2 years joined there 6-8-9000 posts are dominating the place by there join dates. And then you have a few that just well are GRUMPY and if you don't use what they use, well you're using cheap low rated machines LOL. What's really obvious is a lot won't allow new people to learn. That's a shame, just blurt out what they use and think. I figure "if you don't know what you don't know" well, just don't know lmbo. You'll be OK RC. I left for a couple years over there and well gonna take a break from it again. It's a shame.......

Thanks Jack - I really dont care for the place much myself - When Makro recently become a sponser there a moderator went out of their way to PM me "I bet you will be happy now" - (petty & childish for a mod)

It really does not worry me as I just want to learn the machines in tthe thread topic however whenever the topic is Makro it appears the moderators there are getting in on the act and rubbishing their sponsers product with a group of frustrated old tarts -

If someone could when 'choppadude' does his Racer review over there please let me know his opinion -

I'll second that, Dew...frankly, with all due respect to other forum members, I don't care what goes on with other forums. The joy of this forum for so long has been the lack of drama and the focus of metal detecting techniques, pearls, finds and technical aspects of the hobby for many types of machines. Nuff said...

Speak for yourself Dan, I AM interested in what other forums are like. I value any opinion including my own AND, if another forum is not worthy of my time and effort, I want to know about it before I join. Forum members should be made aware of other forum politics so we know what to expect. I was planning on Joining FMDF and now that I see what they are about over there, I won't waste my time.

Sycotoad, (rustic charm) I scanned through the 15 pages and cannot understand why you were banned. Aren't they ALL moderator driven, except maybe this one? I just wish more had apps for smartphones, for those of us who have to access forums by iPhone.

They get paid by sponcers so they have to keep it policed. That is one place where you go and have to tie your fingers so you don't type anything that will hurt others feelings...and these guys are hunters???

Hi Fletch - Thank for taking the time to read through that thread -

I for one am amazed as all I got from the mod was 'banned for good due to calling people names in that thread' -

All I asked for was them to address my posts -

To the others who dont like this post here 'My apologies' - I am genuinely sorry for bringing this carnage here on reflection so please accept my sincere apologies - As this IS my happy place too

Repeated use of profanity in posts (even when purposely misspelled so it gets past the auto-filters) and insults hurled at other
members will eventually get you banned from most forum. Not finding those offenses in a thread just proves that the mods and
admins were doing their job.

I've been on Friendly as long as I've been on this one and had no problems. Pretty much because I try to only post about MDing and don't rant.

Now back to the point - someone said you dragged up all that old crap there - It had been settled already as you are aware, yet NOW that you girlfriend has made a booboo you come into the thread like some wingman - If what I said in the past was enough to get me banned indefinately, then it should have been imposed then & NOT left until a moderator got himself into position where he couldnt answer the questions put to him and simply threw a tanty - Something that is common amongst you mods there -

So now that you have put yourself here, do you think you can tell me what I was banned for as I have no idea as you (mods) dont even appear to tell members why they are now banned - we have heard from your past experiences Rudy but what actually was it that got me banned as we have some interested members here that possibly want to join you? What was the straw that broke the humps back?

You are probably right Wayne but I used to go there to read/post on the Makro threads but always find the same 4-5 members going in and causing trouble for the sake of causing trouble. In fact all of those members have no interest in the subject matter except to go into a thread and stir - The members that actually DO own the gear (Makro) and wish to speak of it are attacked (six plus months already) by that group with the full support of their mods - Now if we sink to their level we are put on a vacation, of which I already know as I referred to that group as a bunch of ladies - However now you dont even have to offend them as you only have to press them for an answer to your question and if they cannot answer them ........ poof you're gone

I haven't dragged anything. As a matter of fact, I think your response just proved my point about
repeated insults eventually getting one banned from a forum.

So I take it you didnt get a chance to read my Makro Racer review then?

I currently have just taken possession of a fantastic Nokta Fors CoRe and Pointer thanks to the intelligent advice gathered from this forum - So I am looking forward to that - My favourite setup is my old musky advantage on a SS with the 10" coil - I seem to be in one with the tones, it's super well balanced & it goes deep - How bout you? - I got rid of the Makro because it was causing no end of grief anytime I asked for advice -

You Rudy only have to go back & read the few Makro threads you havent pulled to see who the instigators are - It's that simple really - you popping over here are telling fibs is not warranted so pop back to your Makro knockers - I am simply after people who can back up their nonsense without resorting to personal attacks - Good bye - By the way - How do you find the Makro Racer?

You obviously were asking for advice on the Racer in the wrong place <g>.
If you had asked for it here, you'd have gotten plenty (of help)!

BTW, I have a Racer and it's a finds magnet. One of the best in modern trash I have used.
The small coil is special, but the stock coil is no slouch. Been waiting about 10 weeks, so far, for a 5x10.

Yes I have owned a Racer - In fact I tested one here in NZ around a month before they were released in the US - I absolutely loved it and wrote what I thought to be a good honest review of my findings however that was pulled from the FMDF after some members created that much of a mess of the thread - Unfortunately I had to sell it on to test out the Nokta Fors CoRe of which I only have a couple of hours on but I prefer the balance over the Racer........... Still, either one is a gem -

I am also hammering the h3ll out of my Nokta Pointer - These things are tough as -

hey guys, got to go out and detect this weekend, and dug a nice sheild nickle, 1867, so nice I can read all the words on it, dug about 5 in the past 15 years and they have all been eaten, wonder why sheilds come out of the ground so cooked

The last shield nickel I dug up was several years ago and it came out of the ground and cleaned up like what you would find in someone's collection. It was dated 1866 and I just used a soft brush and water to clean it, which usually kills the old nickels. I would have to say ground conditions made all the difference in this case, although the ground that the 1866 came out of looked like normal soil. It is my best looking old nickel as most of the "V"s and buffaloes come out looking 'rusty' and crappy looking, just something about the nickel coin alloy I guess.

As highlighted Rudy, you really need to quit coming here and doing that. I'm not saying you should get banned for it but you have a record of doing it not only here,but at other forums. Saying you're sorry after the fact and repeating your actions does not set a good example. PEACE
