That's deep even for an air test. I like all the "Man Toys" Drywall knives to Kayaks - Sweet.

My vaquero will do the same. The new 8 x 11 dd coil is even deeper. If you don't have that coil Michigan you need to get it.

17" air, could you test in actual ground at 17" and make a video or give results??

Look up tesoro vaquero in ground depth test on YouTube it shows it hitting a brass candle at 14 inches where other machines tested couldn't.

i had a vaq for 5 years and had to sell it and got a tejon because these machines a beep and dig people think that they are no good.i dont know anything about hunting in parks but the old house sites that i hunt they will do better than any metal detector that i have ever used, they are really underestimated.

Thanks all

Welgund - I'll be looking into that new 8x11" coil for the Tesoros for sure - you're not the only one to have mentioned that they're deep thumbs down

guvmore and Del - I'll do a video of some in ground testing and also air testing with coins ASAP/when I can and post it up = stay tuned.

skinner - I went the other way around - I had a Tejon a few yrs back and sold it then picked this Vaq up - and like I said in the 1st video I did with it - for the $$ you can't beat this machine and I agree - many under estimate these machines - I wouldn't hesitate to swing this thing along side anyone swinging a Deus from what I've seen so far (and I've owned 2 Deus's myself)!

I agree completely with you skinner. Set your disc to take out nails or where ever you want to set it and start digging.

Strange or is it not ????

that people are starting to RESPECT Tesoros..

Still feel the European unmaskers built their units off tesoro's..

I've known for the last 20 years that the Tesoro ED-120 circuit is tops in the nails. Bought my first in 1995, the Toltec ll, still have it and it still works good!

Monte has come full circle again and added the original Bandido and Bandido ll to his collection along with his Racer.

Edit to say: I bought the new Outlaw, it has the ED-120 circuit and it acts like the original Bandido ll in the iron, great little powerhouse.

Look forward to video, sounds like that model could bring back some life to many of the parks I hunt, THANKS

Michigan Relic Hunter, what was the threshold level? It appears to be about halfway to Supertuned? I have no doubt you can get a blip at max sens with increased threshold, but can one really hunt this way?

A couple days ago I hit a nickel at every bit of 11 in with the new coil. I normally wouldn't attempt to dig that deep but it was a good solid tone both ways and a little faint so j decided to dig it. I only dug it cause it was really early in the morn and I was close to my truck at the old park j was at so I grabbed my lesche shovel and dug it. 11 inches is more than I want to dig most the time but at least I know the vaq will do it if I want

I'm very interested on this model, may buy one. That is pretty good depth.

At one point in time when the V and C came out there was a lot of drama on Findmall for several months on how deep these two detectors were and how they could kick the Tejons butt.
Remember these two characters Magnum and The Govenor?

DeepTech Vista X with 3 search coils.
Works for me

Threshold set at around 2 o'clock

This test was done in disc. mode with the disc. control set at iron, sensitivity cranked all the way up and the threshold knob at 2 o'clock

that's how I was hunting with it a few days ago except I had the disc set a bit higher to knock out tin and it was running/working smooth

Yeah - I wouldn't go so as far as to say either one of the V or C's being able to "kick the Tejons butt" --- Tejons are a good machine with more features/controls, a higher freq. and are every bit as deep at the least...

I had a Tejon and I really do like them -- it's just that mine wasn't one of the "hot ones" so I sold it and then recently picked this Vaq up...

Where does your Vaq airtest a Minie ball with a good repeatable signal with a swing speed someone could swing at? Where does your Vaq ground balance at out in the field, do you run it a quarter turn negative?

I don't think a 17" air test is the norm for Vaqueros. Not even close. I think it's very rare. That's one problem with Tesoro, you never know what youre going to get.
