Whites MX5

Has anyone used the MX5? If so can you tell me if it is as good as the MXT? I have used the MXT for years and know the VDIs very well. I would realy like to have a backlight for night hunting. I was going to get the new Whites Treasure Pro, but was told that the vdis are not the same as MXT. Can someone help with this? Thanks flintstone

Flintstone the MXT PRO has a backlight.

the MX5 is a nice unit and maybe a tad deepr in disc mode...but its not as universal as a MXT..The MXT Combined mode is a great mode..

Actually I would like to see a MXPRO ..

Hi Harold, what detector are you talking about the MXTPRO or MX5 ? What kind of glitch dose it have?
Re: Whites MX5

In thick iron it has a tendency to call a good target iron cause the audio gets stuck on the iron low tone . Keith posted a video of one doing it on you tube.

mx-5 is "dead nuts" accurate on v.d.i..has a super quick processor
and 8 tones! excellent coin sniper!..very lightweight, and outstanding in trash running the
5.3 eclipse coil.

you are welcome!..happy to be of assistance!
for what it is designed for," a "coin sniper",i feel it is
the best i have ever used, again, especially when using the
the little 5.3 eclipse "concentric" coil. (v.d.i.) is dead nuts on .
and pinpoints really excellent.it is "outrageous" in "crap" it's incredibly
fast "recovery" time is the best I have experienced..it " lights" up a lot of coins in heavily
hunted areas...it is a true "sleeper" that is over looked,in my opinion.

Flintstone..........I was just jabbing back at Harold,ILL, mine does not tone glitch in the iron nails. It is very busy sounding the way I run it in the Coin program with 2 tone audio and all-metal accepted. The places I like to take it to are old torn down homesteads, demoed one room school houses and long gone 1800's churches. These kinds of places hold lots of rusty square nails and the MX5 does just great at un-masking ferrous and non-ferrous targets. When the iron gets too thick I like to run it in single tone and with the nails notched out, it acts like a good ED-120 Tesoro then but deeper and with VDI numbers.

Thanks All, someone said the Treasure Pro is about like the MX5, dose anyone know? It would be nice to save the $ 200.00. I have about all the coils for the MX5, but would need to start buying the coils for the Treasure Pro. What do you think you would go with?

If you have almost all the coils for MX5 that would be the one to buy.

No jmaryt as I have 4 Detectors as it is. I have once again bypassed my 3 Detector limit. Besides I already have an XL-PRO, Whites best ''Analog'' coin sniper with the ''dead nuts'' Analog meter!

stay with the mx-5 i don't know to a certainty, but with the exception of a lower frequency, i think we are talking "redundancy" here
as they are very similar in form and function! i suspect the treasure pro to be an excellent coin hound too,and as you mention you already
have the coils for the mx-5, i would go with it!..save your money! .i'm just sayin'

You guys get a fellow all mixed up. I have the MXT with about all the coils that will fit it and I think they will fit the MX5 right? I just wanted a detector with a backlight for night hunting. I think I will go with the MX5. Thanks All, you guys just making fun of each other and I will be hunting coins. Thanks all

sorry for the misunderstanding flintstone! no aggravation intended!
something was lost in translation!..the mx-5 is the one to get because ,in MY view,
the new treasure pro is a lower frequency detector that offers no clear advantages over the mx-5,
that i can determine,so in light of that,my recommendation would be to obtain the mx-5 for strictly coin
shooting purposes.the treasure pro's lower frequency "may" be better on very deep silver, however, the
14 khz frequency on the mx-5 will "hit" harder on jewelry,AND coins as good as any single frequency detector
that's currently available.once again,in MY experience...the mxt family of detectors (including the mx-5) have been
outrageous coin sniffers for many years, and with the proper selection of coils offer a "serious" coin shooter many tools to be successful.
best of luck with your purchase of the " sleeper" mx-5
