Quick Explorer question
October 09, 2015 02:00AM
Will the newer style lower shaft/rod for the eTrac and newer Explorers fit the older XS? The reason I ask is the XS lower rod (the one the coil attaches to) has a narrow squarish groove that the coil cable goes into. The older coils wires are shaped to fit this groove so that the lower rod can slide up into the upper shaft. The newer coils do not...the cables are round and wont fit into the groove, therefore making it impossible for the lower rod to slide into the upper shaft and connect to the control housing. This would be easily remedied with the newer style lower rods that are hollow. I didn't know if they might be smaller or larger than the older style, and not fit into the upper shaft. Before I bought one I wanted to be sure.

I purchased a used XS and work fine with the hollow black rod that came with it, however don't know if it had been modified, contact Minelab to be sure..
