I'll give you three guesses...and the first two don't count. winking smiley

You know the drill. If a deal sounds too good to be true....

Minelab has to play a constant game of 'Whack-a-mole' with these Chinese knock-offs.

Minelab US Direct sales have a holiday special with only two coils for a marked down price of: US $6,375.00
[store.minelab.com]

I'll go on record as saying a GPX 5000 kit with 3 coils, a pinpointer, harness, case and other goodies...brand new...from a 'dealer'...for $1,800...is totally bogus, or stolen.

Me not a PI machine expert by no means, but the price seems, how should I say this----okay I wouldn't touch that deal with a 10' pole.

Wonder even if it works????

And the socalled dealer couldn't sell locally???

I wonder if Keith or Daniel had a good working Gpx 5000 for sale here for $1800 --- how long would it last??? 5 minutes--- I doubt it.

I say totally counterfeit. It says its brand new with 6 month warranty. A genuine gpx 5000 comes with a 3 year warranty last time I checked.

Although these Chinese knock-offs have been around for sometime now, there appears to be little on the net regarding how shite they actually are -

Someone over here had a Chinese knockoff under a different name than Minelab and was auctioning it off on our local auction site - There were plenty of knockers telling the seller it was junk etc etc, yet NOT one took up his invitation to check & test the unit out for themselves to compare how well it actually performed against an original, so it appears in this part of the world, they cant even give them away -l

A little bit of research takes you to the sellers website http://www.lawncaretaker.com/contact.html

They were not in stock, he has to order them from China.
The pictures he used where from Alibaba.

He removed his listing, apparently lawyers contacted him..............................

May be a scam, too risky.

A few bucks more one can acquire the Minelab combo, now that was a steal.

The combo WAS a steal until the market got flooded with the Eureka Gold detector that people were trying to sell. If they were one of the first to get one, they sold the Eureka Gold for $500 or so and only had about $1,800 in a new GPX 4800. People jumped on it and soon the supply out numbered the demand for the Eureka Golds.

If I lived anywhere near there I would contact them and say i'm in the area can I stop by and look at one. I bet they would come up with a reason why I couldn't. Looks like someone actually bought one.....Wow.
