Sure don't have that good slap you in the face hightone whack like the MXT does in relic mode....

I love how a MXT slaps brass...No denying it when you go across a good target..Feels powerful...

I wish they would make a Video of 4 Tone I.D. with Modulation ON over a Deep Dime or just throw one on the ground and swing coil over it starting a couple inches and raise it slowly while swinging coil over coin to edge of depth to hear Modulation. How about it showard?

I've been using the MX5 for a year and a half and if the MX Sport is anything like it, White's has a winner. They just need the 5.3 Eclipse coil to go along with it, the little 6½" 5.3 coil is great in the iron nails around old house and torn down old church buildings sites, pick nick groves and relic type sites. Just the other day I was at an old house site hunting with the MX5 in 2 tone audio with machinegun rapid fire low iron tones, I was able to get a Buffalo nickel, 4 wheats and an Indian head penny that came in with sweet high tones.

I agree. They work good in the trashy parks too because they don't false on steel bottle caps like the DD coils do.

I think they will eventually convert all coils to the waterproof plug in the future. But for now the 950 will have to be the bottle cap coil.

You may get a better slap if you reduce the iron volume? Should be better anyway? I thought it had plenty of tone spread between no ferrous and ferrous for me. Should work pretty good... Would have like to see how it sounded hitting both targets on the same sweep....FYI: This appears to be from an Italian trade show.

I've became a Dave Johnson aficionado...

About any Gold unit he's built I love for the fact it just jumps on Brass like a hungry wolf....

The new machine may well be a GREAT unit and time will tell..Sometimes we have to readapt and accept/learn and keep an open mind to a new unit ..

Its just the MXT is........ well I'll go ahead and say it a LEGEND...and for good reason..It had to prove itself against the 5900s and 6000's and such as the Whites workhorse..and it did not disappoint..


I remember when the MXT was released I saw it in the Western Eastern Magazine as Coming soon ....I contacted my buddy/Dealer and he did not know of it yet..I said find out and let me know...He called me back later and said there was a shipment coming in on Such and Such date..

I was there the day the truck arrived...I picked me one out and put batteries in it and took it outside the shop to the test beds and turned it on..and I knew when I engaged the relic mode it was a winner...I Left with it in the truck...Was'nt long to we figured out the machine needed a DD coil and the 6x10 was installed and the unit was complete

It may not of been the deepest in disc mode but learn to listen to the all metal in unison side and its as deep as any machine ever built..

Ive dug artifacts with a MXT at depths in this bad dirt that is as deep as any I've ever dug with any unit..Just takes a tuned ear..

I hate to get rid of that raw power workhorse feel that has been common with Whites for decades..

I can honestly say the MXT is the finest Whites ever made for 'me'..If it would of had a manual ground bal .it would of been perfect..

Never seen one tear up either..

I felt the MXTpro was Whites Flagship machine. I've grown to love notch disc in a lot of my trashy parks. The MXS should do the trick for my general and reconnaissance hunting.

yeah! me too!..marketing this detector with zero ability to use their
"great" trash coil,the "outrageously good" 5.3 eclipse is tantamount to throwing oneself
off a cliff without a "parachute!"

no keith!..never seen one tear up either! well built,rugged,and never seem to "break!"
smart money says: they will have an adaptor so the "junk" coils can be used! as mentioned before,
never count whitey out!..they been at it a very long time!..over the years,some great detectors have
come out of "sweet home!"..

They should at least had the 5.3" coil in the line up!
