I am thinking about doing a little water hunting this year.
Freshwater only and some dry beach hunting too.
Jewelry is the goal of course.
I will probably just be wading so it doesn't need to go deep.
Im looking at the Tiger Shark, CZ21, and the AT Gold so far.
Other detector brand ideas welcome.
I would also like an opinion on coil size.
Looks like an 8 or 10 inch choice.

Like others said go to a cleaner park until you get to know the Racer. Maybe use 2 tone at first. It has a VCO response so you can get a better idea of target depth.
I switch between 2 and 3 tone as well as all metal when I'm Checking targets. That's the beauty of the Racer menu layout. It's very easy to fly between modes.
It also sounds like you were losing your targets wh

[ "all Metal may be a tie but T2 has VID in all metal so that's a feather in the T2s cap.. " ]
The Racer also has VID in All metal mode.
You also said your volume was quiet. Mine can go quite loud. The on off dial controls your volume.

I called Don but he is out of the R26 coils.
I have had one on order from the distributor for 3 weeks with no word on when the next shipment will be in.

Thanks for the tip. Feels good in my living room. I will have to see how it works in the field for an extended time.
The feel of swinging the Racer is my only complaint I have about the machine. I'm hoping my Eliptical coil I have on order helps
Lighten it up or change the ballence.
Anyone have an idea when the next shipment gets here?

Yes, nice write- up. I am very happy with the performance of my Racer and you put it well when you said
"All I can and will say about the Racer's performance is that it seems to find good targets, and identify them as such, that the other detectors (may have) missed. I believe my ratio of good targets to bad targets dug is better with the Racer. Period."
You know when your

Try 2 Tone until you get to know the machine better.
It's easier to understand and You can easily switch over to 3 tone to check signals.
I had good luck at a very trashy spot running my gain at 70, ID filter 23 using 2 tone.

This overload drama is getting blown way out of proportion!
There is no problem that needs fixed on the Racer. It is a fantastic machine.
It is the easiest, deepests and best detector I have owned.
I like the overload feature. It's not something that is going crazy every time you sweep your coil.
I scrub the grass when I detect. You do not have to walk around with the coil off the g

Took my 5" coil out yesterday for the first time. All coins were 5 to 6 inches including one merc dime.
They all came in real strong with solid ID both directions and loud. None of the signals were weak.
Very heavy trash.

The Racer does overload easly compared to other detectors.
It was a little weird at first but you quickly get used to it.
I'm a coil dragger letting the coil glide on top of the ground and have no problems.
Surface coins scream out and I have grown to like it.
It helps me with gauging depth and size of targets. Like Keith said this is a high gain unit and I love it.
I hope they do

Hey Keith, I will have to find your write-ups on the F19.
I have the Gold Bug Pro and was going to upgrade to the F19 before the Racer came to town.
Besides the added features does it perform a lot better than the GB Pro?
I've only had my Racer out twice and I miss the feel of swinging the weightless Gold Bug Pro but
The Racer is a LOT more machine than my GB Pro for coins, depth, ID

Thought I would add a little more info.
I took the racer to what used to be a small country school today for a short hunt.
Put on the 5" hockey puck coil to see how it worked.
I gave up on this site last year because I was overwhelmed by the rusty bottle caps.
Turns out those are no concern for the racer. Easily identified by just raising the coil and
The numbers drop off fast in t

The 9-10" wheat back was solid 84 one direction 80 to 84 the other direction.
The dime hit solid 84 one direction but bounced from high 70s to low 80s the other direction.
Both sounded nice and I knew they were coins.

Thanks for the help Tnsharpshooter.
Here a couple photos of coins found with rusty nails directly over them
These were good signals.
The second photo shows my 9" Garrett pointer in the hole where I pulled the wheat penny out of.

Hi. I have been following this forum but just signed up today.
I had to speak up for the Racer.
I am not a tech type guy so I'm not going to get real deep here but I do have a little detecting experience.
I bought my first CZ 5 from the late Lucy Bowen in the early 90s and have been detecting on and off since than for coins
and gold nuggets.
I went out yesterday with my new racer an
