I got hooked up with the original V3i just days after it was released to the public. They called it the Vision then. I was/am good friends with a dealer in the Denver area and I think he sold me the detector he was using for the testing phase. The firmware number was accurate and the price was right. So I bought it. I was moderating over at the Friendly Forum at the time and we had a pretty good

That's a lot of digging! Maybe he has a rock tumbler(Polisher) and tumbles his coins. Just a thought. I use to catch crap on the forums when I was raking Quarters with the DFX and BigFoot Coil. It was nothing to hit a grass field at an elementary school and dig $20 to $30 worth of Quarters in 4 or 5 hours of swinging. Not believable to many as my finds were questioned all the time. Picked up my first detector when I was 10 years old, my Dad's homemade BFO, but have only been seriously detecting for 10 years. Never found a Silver Dollar. Found a Gold Coin once! The biggest Silver has been a Half Dollar. Fun to see these stories though!

Thank you Folks for the very kind words in response. I always recommend knowing locals laws, and working with nearby landowners. I never have had a run-in to date. This information is all stated very clearly in the article. Common sense, and being sociable is key in hunting any public/private area. I have visited with many police officers during my hunts of the parkway strips. To date all their q

Here is a link to a downloadable version of a sixteen page, illustrated article I wrote several years ago. This is in PDF format, and may be shared freely as long as the original content of the article is not changed. For those unfamiliar with "A Parkway Strip", it is the small area between the street curb, and the sidewalk. Often the world all around this little area changes dramatical

LOL !!!
I once demonstrated to a group of detectorist a Whites V3 in the field (low EMI detecting), and accurately identified a Quarter at 21.5 inches. The secret was in using a 12 inch concentric coil (Whites Super

I always legally carry (CCW). I also never take chances just because I am armed. If an area is unfamiliar to me, or shows cause for concern, I just keep driving. I detect to relax, and free my mind from a stressful world. To take chances would be contrary to the reason I am out there swinging in the first place. Life is going to change when you pull that trigger. I am very thankful that statistic

I use an E-Trac. I shorten the rod length, and let my arm hang, at almost full length full length with a slight forward lean. Every once in awhile I stretch my back, but no arm, or shoulder pain to speak of.

You might want to consider an E-Trac, and save yourself a little cash. I have used a V3/V3i extensively, and currently use an E-Trac as well as the V3/V3i. My buddy uses a 3030, and I have yet to see the 3030 find a coin that my E-Trac did not see as well. Silver actually sounds better with the E-Trac. All great machines however. You can't go wrong.

Great detector! I have had one since there first release. The biggest issue with the Vision/V3/V3i to date has been EMI. If your hunting environment is relatively free of interference, You can really do some amazing things with this machine. I mostly use the E-Trac now, but I keep my V3 close by, and have good use for it on occasion. If the targets are deeper, and the ground is fairly trash free

Running a Whites DFX in 15kHz, or V3/V3i in 22.5kHz with VDI Normalization turned off will expand the resolution, and offer a more detailed low conductive VDI response range.

E-Trac is my favorite machine, but I would like to have the Whites V3/V3i running 2.5-7.5-15.5 frequencies instead of the 22.5. An 11 inch DD coil for it would finish of the wish list.
