Tom's post from a different topic.
Gosh. Let me premise with this: If I do NOT explain this to a good level of understanding......LET ME KNOW!!!
(((Here goes))) =
On a TRUE All Metal Mode........ ANY piece of metal....... makes the metal detector go: "BEEP". On 'some' detectors......... the VDI still works.......giving ONLY a 'visual' ID of the target....

I had such high hopes for the Tarsacci, but EMI all but completely shutdown the detector. I actually planned on selling my White's TDI to buy the Tarsacci if it performed equal to or better than the TDI.
Some of my areas are on the extreme side of ground conditions. Between the small coke waste to iron-oxide, most detectors are completely crippled below 4" deep.
Oh well.

I have an opportunity to trade my Equinox 800 in for a new detector. Very fair trade in value I believe. Well, anyway I was considering the Equinox 900 since I also have the 10x5 that works on the 800 and can use on the 900. What advantages will I have with the 900 over the 800 or should I think about upgrading to a more expensive machine. The Equinox 900 package comes with the 11" stock

I might add a little more information to my original post. Most of the holes I dig at this site will cause my F-Pulse pin pointer to continuously give a response at the bottom of the hole, which leads me to believe there is or possibly might be a large amount of rusted "decayed" nails in the area. I have dug several square nails that are 1/2 way decayed which would cause the decayed r

Fred and I went to an old plantation today and I can honestly say I've got a bad case of the puzzles.
Fred hunted with the Manticore as usual and I took both the F75 with the 5" DD coil and the Equinox with the Coiltek 10x5. I started hunting with the F75 and within 30 minutes I had dug not one but two wheat pennies, a 1918 and a 1954. I was using the 5" coil, 3 tones, sens at 8

I have a close friend who is a Vietnam vet. He has been working on the Jennings cemetery where he knows there are many unmarked graves from years past. His desire is to set a grave marker with a "J" over each unmarked grave before is own passing. He attempted to hire a person with ground penetrating radar to mark areas where the ground has been disturbed but the cost was out of his reac

I've tried single frequency on my Equinox 800 in places of high EMI and can't positively say they are deeper. But I will say the ID is way more accurate with multi selected.

Correct, I can't get a good quiet channel to work on the Equinox 800, so I have to turn it down to about 15. But my hunting buddy has the Manticore and his runs fairly quiet but only at a sens of 20.

On the Tarsacci I tried each frequency, threshold and finally the sensitivity. I could finally get the machine quieten down enough to hunt some at sens of 4 and threshold of 4 but it struggled to give a non ferrous audio on the 4" dime. EMI was my enemy with the Tarsacci. I finally had to send the detector back because the person was going on a beach hunt later this month. I was extremel

This coal most likely came from West Virginia. Not pure coal since both states have an iron ore belt that is located both in Virginia and West Virginia.
As the coal is burnt, any metal ores in the coal is smelted together into the waste that was discarded on the property. Some of this waste is quite heavy compared to the regular coal waste. I have struggled with these areas for over 2 decad

Went back to the same location we've been hunting for many years. My buddy had the Manticore and I took the Equinox and the TDI SL with the Minelab Commander 11" mono coil. I had buried (in a clean area with no sign of either trash or iron) a dime at exactly 4" several weeks ago when I was using a borrowed Tarsacci. The Tarsacci would only occasionally give a non ferrous audio (

Trip was a flop. They had dredged sand to build up the entire beach. Looked like several feet above what I would think was normal. Hunted anyway but it was so quiet. Waited until low tide to hunt the wet slope but even there the targets were no where to be found. Finally hunted the towel line and found a few items but not much. Got to send the detector back to the guy that loaned it to me t

Thanks for the heads up. I'll switch to the 12" coil and extend the lower rod as far as I can too.

Hoping to make a beach trip this fall with the Tarsacci. Been studying Tom's DVD on beach hunting and will deploy his procedures from the start. Last trip to the beach was 5 years ago, I took the Equinox 800 and the TDI SL found mostly change and a few other items. Hope to take both the Equinox and Tarsacci this time and maybe some side by side comparisons too.

Is the reason the trough may be gone is a 12 hour period because of the sand being deposited over the site?
Since the heavy item basically don't move (according to the video) I guess that is the reason.
So if the heavy trough is there one day, it will still be there but too deep to detect, correct?

After watching the video several times I think I know but here is the question:
On any particular beach you should only need to locate the high density trough one time, correct?
Since gold and lead are high density items and won't move very much from where lost, then once a high density trough is located it should not change. In other words, I'm hoping to beach hunt for 5 days t

Does the same hold true for the Equinox 800?
Park 1 or any mode, open discrimination, (horse shoe), no notching.
Increase threshold until audible.
