Hi Tom/Ev 1
I have been using the new 15 x 12 Detech S.E.F. coil for the Minelab Explorer SE. They are a real breakthrough for depth, seperation, pinpoint ability and target id.
Are these coils now available Stateside?
Curious to what Tom and All make of these new coils. The SEF coils are very similar to the Nexus coils. There is a new SE Pro detector due for release shortly which consis

Hi Tom
Thanks for that information.
The small nylon retainer with the screw through the centre had broken off and the button was only being held in place by the solder and wiring.
I managed to re-solder the connection and very carefully put a tiny blob of silicon to the top and bottom edge of the button unit.I figured it was the most non destructive 'fix' i could do.I also used S

Hi Tom
I was looking into the battery compartment on my CZ-5 and while the control box was inverted the pinpoint button popped out of the control box and was/is hanging by a single wire.
I cannot see a second wire, which i am assuming should be present at the rear 2 solder points on the pinpoint button.
The last time i used the CZ was a few days ago and i noticed the pinpoint button need

Hi Tom
Your dvd arrived today and i just finished watching it for the first time.I'm sure i will be re-watching it over and over.
The chatter from the CZ was reassuring to hear/see- this is exactly what my CZ-5 was doing when i thought i had a fault(first time i encountered a trashy area of parkland). The pinpoint tip with the coil edge was excellent and the various features on sweep spee

Hi Tom
Thanks for that.I can't wait to give it a try- i have permission for some very trashy fields so that should be a challenge for the coil.
One field in particular i discovered had a roman road running through it which is visible on a land survey my neighbour viewed years back.
Will let you know how i get on.

Hi All
Wow the FZ-1 is so easy to use and makes locating the find fun- even the edge of hole stuff.
I am already putting together a wand type holder( thanks for the idea Indiana) so i can use the probe alone...got some tight spots down the edge of the church walls which should prove to be a good spot.I've mentioned this church before it dates back to the 1200's.It was too trashy

Hi Indiana
Thanks for the reply.
I can't wait to give the FZ1 a go when i get it.I have permission for an ancient Church site which is very trashy it dates back to 1220 A.D. so should hold some great finds.I'm planning on trying around the edges of the many ancient trees.
I will let you know if i make any good finds with the CZ and FZ1.
Thanks again for the info and your ing

Hi Tom/Ev1
Do you use a FZ1 on your CZ-3D?
I read Indian Heath was using a Sun Ray S1 on a Minelab Sovereign GT which i thought was pretty cunning and ingenious. What kind of depth do you get on a CZ with a Sun Ray?They quote 3inchs on their website so is this a true/realistic figure.
I was put off buying a FZ1 due to the silly price in the UK...£169 or $338 but now can get one for £70

Hi Tom/Ev1
How would you rate the ID-EDGE compared to the CZ-3D?
Inland coin hunting mainly....on ploughed fields, stubble fields and older parkland.
I have n't heard much said about the ID-EDGE so anyone with experience on this unit please share what you know here.
I love the CZ-5(i have one) and fancy a 3D when i can afford it.Just noticed a few ID-EDGE units for sale in the U

Hi Tom/Everyone
I am considering getting a new detector soon.I currently have a CZ5 (with 8" and 10.5" coils) which i intend to keep.
After reading alot of field tests/opinions on the F75 and Minelab SE i still can't decide either way.
For me the F75 is in front mainly due to the price...in the UK the F75 is £599 and the SE is £895.
I hunt for coins on beach and inland. The in

Hi Tom
Thanks for your advice i shall give it a try next time out.I have just got permission on a local church site dating back to 1100 a.d. and will let you know if i have any good finds.I managed to wangle permission from the Verger in return for picking up litter.Cleared 5 bags of trash so far and still got half the site to clear.I've been raking along the walls with visions of hammere

Hi Tom/All
Should i be able to dial out iron on my cz5?I have read they like iron nails etc and i keep digging various iron stuff up.I run my cz in 'ID'mode, sensitivity at 4,discrimination on the ring pull setting(1 click past iron),always ground balance the push button method 1.
Is the iron problem due to the halo effect/oxidation bleeding into soil? The iron items i have dug are n
