I have never used one but it seems to have many features that detectorists want. Besides not having a DD coil available why don't people like it? Greater iron resolution, tracking, notch, four tone audio, visual id, some kind of analyze mode. I don't get it, are they just all bells and whistles and no performance?

I have had my Xterra 70 for a couple of years now. It's very much like the 705. If you have any specific questions I would be glad to try to help you out.

I don't usually have a problem getting a good Gb setting in most of the places I hunt. The places that give me trouble are trash ladden yards in town. Out in the fields it's not too hard to find a clean area to Gb. In the limited area of a yard it can be hard if not impossible to find a good place to Gb. Just wondering what somme of you guys are doing when you hunt areas like this. Is t

The F75 is a super machine. Very fast responce time coupled with being very sensitive to the point where you can over due it and the machine will become erratic. Proper GB is a must. The discrimination is different than any other machine out there. I usually set it at 6. Many times people will think there machine is getting interference just because there is actually that much stuff in the ground

In the last year or so there have been some new detectors come out. Fisher seems to be at the head of the pack at turning these things out every couple of months. I have used the F75, F2, and now the F5. They are all good machines. The question I have for you is why are these machines with the fast target responce so suseptible to interference and why are they so jittery? Is this an inherent trai

Tom, have you ever used the X-70? If so, would you care to share your impressions of it. I have been using one for about a year now and have to say that I am very impressed with it. Deepest coin to date was a seated dime at ten inches and it came in very clear. I was using the nine inch 3kHz. coil. I live in Nebraska so I don't have to worry about some of the crazy ground conditions I hear a

Tom, can you explain why there are no DD coils for the CZ machines. Other machines that use multiple frequencies have DD coils that work with them. I'm just wondering why none have ever been produced for the CZ models. I thought that maybe you could shed some light on this. Thanks.

Hi Tom,thanks for your advice. I set my machine up as you described and found that I have no threshold hum. Then I set the machine up to do the dime test and got 9" max. Tested some modern nickles and they bounce from nickle, tab, and foil. Seems the machine needs a checkup. Sure wish that I could buy a how to manual on how to tune these things. Hint, hint. I'm sure it's not rocket

Ever had one that was a little out of tune? My first 70 seemed to classify targets and lock on better than the one I have now. This one likes to jump between two catagories a lot. I have tried with the 8" and 10.5" and it does the same with both. Can or will Fisher still work on the older machines? Thanks.

cz-70 - 16 years ago
Hi tom, glad to see your site back up and running. I just bought a used cz-70 and everything works fine but it seems like the tone and visual id is a little more jumpy than the cz-70 that I used to have. I have read about the 3Ds being out of tune but is it possible that my cz-70 could be a tad off and what can I do about it if it is? I have used it with an 8" and 10.5". Also, it don

I hear a lot about the F-75 in iron, but not much about sites like old inter city houses and parks that have a lot of modern junk in them. My f-75 does great at the old country school sites but when I get in town it seems like the alluminum and modern trash drives the machine crazy. Tons of one way sounds that keep you guessing all the time. I have tried all the tips fron different forums but st

Hi Tom, in one of your posts you mentioned a correctly tuned 3d. I was thinking about getting one and was wondering what my chances are of getting a lemon. I would hate to spend that kind of money for a machine that isn't working at peak performance. How do I know if it is tuned correctly and if it isn't, how do I get it tuned?
Thanks again for a great dvd. Hope to see another out so

I've used the F-75 for about 30 hours. I have found a few nice finds with it but nothing at depth. I can't help thinking that all the chatter is masking deeper signals. We have mild soil in Nebraska and gound balancing is not a problem. I hunt in de mode, 10 discrimination, nothing notched, 4h tone id, usually ground balances around 60, sensitivity 40-85. Also have played with the frequ

If you had the F-75 when you made the dvd, what would be different if anything? Would you have even used it in making the dvd? Hope to see another one out soon.

What a great DVD. Very good information. I just watched it for the second time and look forward to watching it again.
I do have one question for you. Were you using your 3D in the enhanced mode? The area you were hunting in seemed pretty trashy and I thought that in trashy areas the salt mode was the better choice.
Thanks for sharing all this great information with us.

If I was to treat the relic tone on the CZ-70 as a high tone, would it be comparable to the CZ-3D in the enhanced mode? Also, does the CZ-70 have the same depth capabalities as the CZ-3D?
Thanks, Tom and staff for all the great information that you have made aviailable to all of us. The dvd was great.
Best wishes,
