Lets put it this way the weight of the object does have a bearing where it will land when the tide comes in to a degree but is not proof positive as that elusive gold ring could be anywhere on the beach as storm and weather patterns changes the tide lines from tide to tide and day to day...
Hunting the tide line in a zig zag method and not filling holes as the next tide will do that just turn ar

Lets put it this way the fourth tone really stands out to let you know you are getting a signal in that facet..
I don't believe Tom works on digital CZ's(CZ70)
Personally if you hunted real old areas the advanced mode is a plus but if using in old areas still being used would be a minus as you would dig a lot of the new junk and also your regular mode would be locked in salt which

I felt you were a detectorist but a CZ3D is just new to you and would take up Chris on the test drive offer as one trip with a good mentor is worth many posts or E-mails. Kind of hard to explain but eye to eye all will fall into place with your experience with other units.
Basically the CZ70 properly tuned is just as deep is a tad slower being digital and above all has a superior notch system

CZ3D has linear discrimination and if you run the disc. high you discriminate whats below it as no notch system like the digital CZ's...from a conventional analog CZ square tab was renamed relic and given a different tone so indeed 4 tones versus 3 tones of a conventional analog CZ.
Indeed visiting a Fisher dealer or perhaps discussing with a CZ3D user would be the best bet as indeed its us

Interesting thread especially relative the roots.....different colored dirt in spots is usually a telltale sign that low spots have been filled in but throw that out the window if for instance the whole yard has been redone with a dirt more condusive to having a nice lawn..With so many soil areas, sandy, rocky, clayish etc.hard to tell relative the sink rate
and yes light pulltabs do go deep in

Hats off to Monte as he is the king of testing and a fine gentleman and credit to the hobby..But again how in heavens name do you duplicate a 75-100 year old nail which has leached into the ground? Ball park at best and again a tip of the hat for his efforts..

Try the Z method...just put one on my Quattro and works great..Read the instructions use a lot of liquid so you can slide into position and voila you have a bulletproof cover(almost) not familiar with the E-trac but they have another for that model so must be a tad different..Whites XLT had the best idea and cover could be changed at will at a low cost at best but other outfits screens scratch e

The do now make an aftermarket lightweight screen and box cover that is much superior to the older heavier bulky screen covers which leave you with a perfect fit and above all a flat clear cover for the screen also might look into the clear cover for the front of the screen which is expensive and use a lot of the liquid so it can be moved into position when applying as either are an improvement o

My thoughts are are call the manufacturer and ask to talk to a tech as over the years faulty coils can cause a variety of problems...Perfect scenario if a club member has one do a comparison test.
Years ago bought a XLT new and didn't seem to be working right and gave it to an XLT Guru and he agreed with me and to make a long story short Whites tested and put on a new coil under warranty an

Most units will respond to rusty iron as high coin signals and vary from unit to unit..Having vast experience with a CZ
when I first got my original CZ6 was ready to wrap around a tree but over the years dig few rusty nails but do get fooled now and then by extremely deep ones..
Google Mike CZ tips as should be called the Bible for CZ users and will give you some ideas on how to ignore those na

Field tests are good and admire your enthusiam but a lot depends on your ground(mineralization) and the nut behind the wheel(no pun intended)...Seems like you have the F75 experience and not the Explorer experience so would bet on the F75. However in the real world Minelab Explorers have the best guts in the industry(opinion) and excel especially on deep silver coins while the F75...EMI and all w

I like to stay away from pennies in the local parks as our parks are loaded with them but if in an old area I dig everything in that range...
Do remember lots of oddball coins, tokens, large gold rings, sterling silver rings and religious metals, indian heads, two cent pieces, gold coins to name a few just might be missed darned if you do and darned if you don't and certainly your call..

Be careful with harnesses and such as they do work for many but take the weight off your arm muscles and transfer it to your larger back muscles...if you have back problems would be careful...lighter units may be the way to go even though heavy Minelabs are excellent units and again the swingy thing works for many and is a fine product also..

Also wide open in most case better depth....as gold jewelry can hit from low foil to screw cap and a smal chain iron in or near the water dig all even the ones that don't sound good...digging is usually easy on the beach and one never knows...some womens thin rings can have nice stones...and of course white gold really comes in low....

Sure do as always remember hunting an old yard felt I had all the coins so I decided to try for a gold ring by digging tabs and such..Got a good tab signal at 3 inches and out came a large(faker) gold filled ring..Passing over the hole again I received a high coins reading and at 6 inches out came a 1820's large cent so one wonders how many we missed because of masking...???

It took years of forum discussions and about 10 books before the XLT was really understood and was replaced by the V3 so imagine in years to come it will serve the operator well once learned as the XLT was top gun for years.
Whites makes them good and supplements it with excellent service after the sale but along with that comes a learning period which varies from idividual to individual and som

Red Big Bud Pro was voted best detector 0f 1988 and was way ahead of its time but it literally ate batteries and drove everyones detector crazy at a planted hunt but the blanker that was used on some other units of that time proved to be inefficient at best and worked to a degree but in the long run when on costs you depth and as we all know a good target could be 1 inch or 10 inches especially r

Pretty tough call as both the CZ6A and water Sov perform the best on saltwater beaches I hunted in N.J....
I feel I would be confident with either but CZ probably deeper and Sov. might have an edge on micro jewelry.
Now if your wading Excalibur(water tight Sov) would be my choice as I would hate to drop the CZ6A or get hit with a wave even though they claim its waterproof as Excal. is made

Funny you should mention that..as over the weekend hunted a school area and yep the grass was so long coil kept getting caught in the grass..Not for lack of bucks just too much rain and saw where the lawn tractor stuck...
Hope for some dry time so I can get the deck painted and perhaps have a cut area on my next trip...Actually tough on the arm wading thru deep grass not to mention the lack of d

Having used every model CZ ever made 7-8 inches would be average...so contact Tom as I feel something is wrong with yours..I do have to say always ran Volume at 10 so even a 10-12 incher sounded good...no whispers..
Honestly if you bury a coin at 8 inches any similarity to one buried 75-100 years is purely coincidental and may also be a key to your problem...by the way my coin garden is buried o

I guess forum members all have their little ways to cut down the odds or it may be a gut feeling, odd audio but location is a major factor. Is there a sure way to tell of course not but again the weight and mass of a gold ring versus the junk has to come into play and if you have a conventional pinpointing(VCO is useless for sizing) do some experimentation passing over the target and when signal

From field experience using a CZ one model or the other I found extremely deep coins 10-12 inches will not always
repeat from 4 directions but if you spend some time you should get at least get a repeat signal from 2 and if in a real old area if the signal just sounds good might even dig one that will only sound off from one direction but on the whole if I can'"t get a repeat from at l

Time for experimentation lay a coin on the ground and raise the coil to simulate about 6 inches in depth and try different sweep speeds to get the best ID and depth. Actually think they are talking about the speed of the sweep and perhaps the wiggle which works for many units but apparently not the for the F or T units..Reading many manuals over the years feel most are written by tech's in l

Odd getting all those gold rings digging nickles as Fisher did a study of a collection of several hundred and only 5 percent came in as nickle on a CZ...years ago one of the Whites guys(can't think of his name) came out with a gold ring ring program for whites programable units and actually notched out nickles as he felt wasn't worth digging them to find a gold ring...myself my wifes mo

We all know, tabs, foil, can slaw etc. can mimic a gold ring and come in spot on your meter..Over the years have done some testing and find older Tesoro's seem to have the most audio variances to cut down the odds to dig or not and talking to many avid detectorists say heck a gold ring and the junk that mimics sounds the same, but does it as the average gold ring weighs much more than perhap

Grant brings up an interesting thougth relative tones and gold rings and may have some merit as although tabs and foil mimic many gold rings they are usually much lighter than the rings they mimic so tones and weight might be brought into the equasion if thats feasible. On second thought if we had a unit that was manufactured that could tell a gold ring from a much lighter imitator it would be qu
