It's all great to be "in tune" with your machine, but you'll never know unless you dig it.
I've been bored after a long time of not digging and dug a sure square nail hit and bingo - something surprising. I had a hard time with the LTD in iron, but I liked 2F, 0 discrim, 4x6 coil, best. I just decided a different detector was a better match in that environment.

The crazy thing is that it happens with all detectors I've used. I've gotten better with my Explorer but a bent square can sometimes sound good from all angles. Has to be a VLF issue not just LTD or G2.

Make sure it's not the connection at the housing since the connector is pretty poorly put together (soldered and shielded). The good thing is, the end screws on instead of being crimped on. You can easily (if not under warranty) remove the end and re-solder the leads - heat shrink it and put it back together. The three I've done are better than when they started.

Modulated audio is the only reason I go back to the Explorer. The thing is too heavy, ugly, and the sounds are annoying, but there's so much information in each swing, how could I use anything else? It will be interesting to hear the AT-Pro.

I could not hunt with the LTD in fields (old torn down houses is what I'm assuming you're talking about) - although it has fast recovery, the falsing is a big problem in BP. 2F helped mitigate that but I still found myself back in DE. An Explorer user with a smaller coil could hunt way faster than me, because I had to give every false an investigation since falsing and partially ma

Bryce seems like a really nice guy.
I see VERY little difference among the three small coils I've used except footprint, and he doesn't live too far from me. I'd like to see a realistic field test where you compare actual real world targets and expect nothing from the manufacturer in return. I'd pay for that kind of review. I don't know Bryce, but if you have th

Bryce? I'm curious...... what brought you to this conclusion? Pics of family? pics of finds? bogus field tests?

Although I find most of this goofy at best since most non-believers here will turn to a God in times of hardship and most devout people here will sin when they are tempted. I found this quote the most ignorant yet. While this gibberish is j

Several of us in a club have tested the bajeezus out of the ACE250 and not once could we hit a 7" dime - not even in an air test. We're in the black soil of the midwest , so maybe it has trouble in that - dunno, but I'm confident a blanket report of 8 or 9" dimes will lead to some disappointed purchasers around these parts. I also had very different results than Tom with th

An ACE250 can't even dream about a 9" dime. 6.5 max. Funny thing is it's just over 6.5 for a quarter.

I've toyed with getting one as a backup and I've seen some great deals of late. Just curious if anyone uses one of those as their "go-to" detector.

I normally hunt with one or two people - what that inevitably leads to is someone calling you over to a target they feel they have positively identified. Sometimes I would switch to my F75 mid-way through an outing and there were several times where I couldn't hear a peep, but the Explorer XS knew it was a deep dime. That got me to sell the F75 and buy an LTD. The depth problem was gone,

QuoteTomWhen Sens is boosted to max ... and Disc is dropped to '0'.......internal circuit cross-talk/noise occurs.......which has nothing to do with the definition of EMI.
There has to be some outside factor to this though. Because some places you can hunt 0 disc with 99 sens. Other places you can't.

Who buys anything when word is that the device will be "obsoleted" by a new model? If the rumors were true, it would be a depth difference of 8 - 12" - anyone that buys an etrac between now and when

That's irresponsible of that club member. There was no Bounty Hunter takeover - the hobby divisions appear to have not been changed much at all. I can't imagine FTP aquired these companies b

Everytime he opens his trap on findmall he makes Fisher look like it's operated out of someone's garage. Wouldn't it make more sense to post who NOT to send your CZ to?

"Normally, on the F 75, as you increase your discrimination you lose depth"
not really true... you only lose depth in what I call the quiet area 6 - 23 (I think it's 23...?)

I get to Good Sam, Princeton, and Daviess County working on X-Ray equipment fairly often. I'll have to plan some extra time in the next few weeks. We have a club hunt 1.5 hours from you on the 10th and 11th. PM me if interested.

I don't often have good things to say about the F75 because in comparison to other units I've used, it's been unnecessarily noisey and in the places where it would excel AT "0" disc (iron laden homes), it's been unusable because of EMI. At 6 disc the tones become more choppy and the sound of a dime on edge or next to a piece of iron sound similiar to iron falsing.

"Why bother. The idea is to find the target then dig the target. Why bother trying to work out how deep it is ?"
Hmmm - this means you're digging the memorials while your partners are skipping them to move on to the Indians or deep silver. If you're hunting a manicured lawn or well kept park, digging 3 holes a foot to pull out clad is a little irresponsible - during the

My few success stories with this machine is with that coil. Most places I've used it I can run 0 disc, 99 sens, 4 tone. At the moment its the only reason I keep it around.

"HUNTING OLDER PARKS AND A FEW WE HAD TO LEAVE BECAUSE OF THE EMI."
I got abused for saying this. In two seasons with the F75 I have yet to hunt a home site or park that I could operate at "0" disc or JE or both. 30% or more of those I can't hunt at all. Most places I can with the 6.5", but that's just not practical at an inner city park.
