Thanks much, Aaron.
This "calibration" is only done on the CZ machines, eh? I am assuming, due to what go-rebels and Steve(MS) stated earlier, the newer machines cannot really be tweaked?
So, I guess along those same lines, you can't really even send a digital machine back to the manufacturer for a "tune-up," unless there is a new software version which they can

Good question! I think for me, it's alot like fishing and hunting (which I also love to do). You just never know which cast, which plum thicket, which detector swing might land the lunker bass, the big quail covey, or the awesome coin or ring. Unlike hunting and fishing, however, what you "bag" can also bring some monetary value, which is an added benefit!

Can you fill me in a bit? I keep seeing the cryptic allusions to Mr. Dankowski "tweaking" certain machines (seems like maybe only the CZ-3D) and having the users very happy with the improved performance. Is this only for the CZs; how did you get the opportunity to have this done for your machine, etc.?

Thanks much Shambler for the info. Additional input is welcome.
Shambler, please forgive this next question, as it will reveal how much I have yet to learn, but...
I have been trying to wrap my brain around the terms "sensitivity," "threshold," and "gain," as far as understanding exactly what they mean with respect to detector function -- i.e., what is being c

OK folks, I'm pretty new to this website AND forum, and my head is swimming from all the info. Having said that, in all my reading I seem to be getting the impression that Mr. Dankowski has been known to check over some people's detectors at times, and maybe even tweak them, for optimal performance. Am I understanding this correctly, or no? Something to do particularly with CZ-3D mac

Thanks so much for this site. Your stuff on detectors/detecting is the best there is, period. Me being a scientist, I really appreciate how you do things and trust your info, as a result, far more than anyone I know. Your articles are absolutely tremendous, and the forums -- and your input there -- contain a WEALTH of information for someone who enjoys getting into the tech

This is a really interesting topic. I have wondered if it is "true" that a DD coil sends down a narrow, (side to side) but broad (front to back) field. I am assuming this is at least SOMEWHAT true, as there are lots of folks on forums attesting to getting better target separation with the DD coils...
