You still are not comprehending are you ? I can't give you settings for YOUR soil. You have to figure that out for yourself. That's what that 20 year old DFX was designed to do.
I said this before and will say it again. LOVE your hunting videos.

I know exactly what I am saying. I also know you used the unit for a total of 5 minutes and that does not count for much in my book.
I learned my DFX, figured out what settings and coil gave me the optimal performance. Hmmmm...similar to what you did with your Deus huh ? You like a certain coil and program for relic hunting in certain areas correct ? That is smart detecting. Would you use an

Agree 100% with you Daniel on that 9 inch concentric. Probably the worse coil to use on the DFX.
One of the things I really liked about the unit at the time is how it handled wet salt sand and how one can use multi frequency in the wet sand and then switch over the single 15 for dry sand hunting for gold jewelry. If silver was your main focus, switch over to 3. In heavier iron, running corrola

OMG...I was just going to post GPX5000 vs a Walmart special !
Good one Tex.
Not sure why a video needs to be produced to help a new hunter with $700-$800 to spend, make a decision between a 10 year old DFX that would probably cost $300 to buy used, versus a new tech detector that just came to market.
Unless the video is trying to inform the buyer don't buy a NEW DFX. That's a

CD..when was the last time you used the Deus in Basic 1 ?
Didn't you end up reading, learning, setting up and using that Deus for hours and hours to make it perform better as you continued to learn it ? Didn't you also spread your knowledge around (thank you) so others can benefit ?

If you are going to test a DFX using a pre set program against a new model detector, you might as well use a stick.
Throw that video out along with the test.

Ozzie....great point on the 'what if' scenarios.
If I am in an area that is old and I know older coins have been plucked out of the ground, the smaller deeper high tone hits that will also low tone on occasion have to be dug. I have dug many many deep mercury dimes that sound like that...along with many many small rusty bits of nails too !
One just never knows until the target i

Robert,
Sometimes the unit won't GB due to neutral soil. Tom D talks about that. Not sure what the best setting would be for your soil conditions, but if you are not getting a lot of false signals on a constant basis at 10, then you should be fine. One of the things a CZ will do if the GB is way off or if soil conditions change a lot as you are hunting, is start to false a lot. At least t

4 basic rules for any CZ user:
1) Make sure the unit is ground balanced. Pin point method is good, bobbing method better.
2) Sweep fairly slowly and make sure the coil is level.
3) Don't run the sensitivity too high in most cases. You will be surprised how deep CZ's will go with the sensitivity in the 3-4 range ( this is in discriminate mode). As you continue to increase sensi

I ended up getting a TDI BH for the simple fact it's waterproof and salt water beach hunting and a non-waterproof unit can cause some issues (debated over another TDI big box or the new TDI BH).
Will use the Whites battery pack for now, but want to get the after market battery at some point. I am assuming the one to get is the 3100 ?

Agree 1000% on iron audio. It is a major plus and one of the reasons I like hunting with my Vista Gold Gain. Love the audio on that unit. Also the reason why I only hunt in discrimination setting of 0 when huntin

Can this coil be used on the MMK and can it run in all 3 frequencies or is it tuned to only 1 frequency (or optimized for a specific frequency) ?

Daniel...that's a good thing yes ? You talking buckshot sinkers and the 1/16th and 1/32 sized jig heads ? I know they are a pain but small gold can fall into that same category.
As far as those bobbie pins go....yup, they are a huge thorn in the side.

I hear ya ! One of the reasons I don't use my Deus as much is due to it not having a small concentric coil.

I think the F75, with all the coil options, fast recovery speed, depth, the options it has, battery life and the ergonomics make it a keeper. Even at low sensitivity settings it goes deep.
If I didn't already have one I would have snagged one up on the used market. There are great deals out there.

Great report Mike.
A stable F75 is an awesome unit.
As far as going back over a site with another unit as opposed to trying to figure out settings to overcome the site's challenges, that to me is smart, not laziness.
There are times when a different unit will perform better over the same site no matter how much you try to tweak a unit or try to figure out the previous unit you we

I agree with Goodmore...the 600 in wet salt sand/suds and in the water is all you need.
The only thing other than the light that the 800 will give you is if you wanted to venture up into the dry sand and hunt for small gold. The 800 has the additional option to run in single higher frequencies which could be more sensitive to smaller gold ( as well as smaller foil and aluminum !).

Not really. Depends on the beach. There are beaches here in NJ that with a nice Noreaster, silver coinage is found consistently. Finding gold at these beaches also becomes easier with a nice storm. Now, if hunting the beaches
