I hear ya about that. Do you ever wish you had one on some new site you hit ?
I know there were times where I did. Then I went back and guess what...not much other than junk. More digging and sifting then finding good stuff. But non-metallic goodies do show up when sifting now and then.

Question:
If you are hunting in an area that has the potential for old coins and relics, and your unit hits a target that is 12 inches deep or more, are you going to pass up digging just because your unit is 'telling you' it may be iron ?
I know...depth readings can be inaccurate. But if you are confident of the depth and possible size, are you going to rely on the unit alone to

Rick,
Good report on Whites service. I always had great customer service from them. Glad to hear that continues. Amazing how they can bring a unit that long in the tooth back to good as new.
Keep that XL-Pro working. It's a Hall of Famer for sure.

The entire hobby is based on personal preference. Facts matter, but personal preference matters more.
Why do you think there are so many brands and models ?
Calabash needs to give it a rest with the BS about being geared toward advanced relic hunters. Advanced relic hunters already know what they know. They don't need comparison videos to figure things out. And they sure don't nee

The FACT is, feelings do matter. Personal preference is based on feelings. You still don't get it.
If a hunter found the best stuff with his/her $250 unit over his/her $1,000 unit, it MATTERS.
If a hunter has his/her 'lucky machine'

So if I do a 'comparison video' of an AT Pro against a stick, whats the difference ?
The AT Pro would be the best in that comparison.
Calabash stating 'compared to what' pretty much sums up the entire discussion on metal detector comparisons.
Before the advant of YouTube, there were metal detector reviews where hunters would post their likes or dislikes. You could re

Calabash is right.
Detector Electronics Corp. I believe is one of the Deus service centers that I used (it may be the only one...check the Deus site) and did an excellent job on my remote when the LCD went bad.
Reasonably priced and came back like new.

Dan,
It was me who bought that CZ70 Pro from Bob. Got it because I want to take my son or brother salt water beach hunting, and the CZ70 doesn't have any knobs they could move/hit by accident. Plus it's splash proof and has a backlight for use on those cloudy days. Oh don't worry....I will use it too !!
I like the analog CZ' the best myself as well. Picked up that CZ70 f

Glad you did. I grabbed that CZ70 Pro off of Bob and then saw you were wanting to sell your AT Pro to get it. Sorry about that !

I think prices on consumer goods/commodities were pretty stable until 1971....when Nixon took us off the gold standard.
Gave us the ability to print dollars pegged to nothing but faith in the US government to pay it's debts (and of course a powerful military to boot).
Some countries prior to that were smart and started redeeming their dollars for gold. When the jig was up (meaning we

Looks like 1935-1945 Merc Dimes in good to fine condition fetch between $2.25-$3.00 a piece.
Gallon of milk on average is about the same price.
I like the idea of being able to take a merc dime to a store and get a gallon of milk.
Next step...go to a local farmer or poultry house and plop down a silver Washington quarter and get a nice 6-7 pound chicken !

I know King World News is an advocate for pumping gold and silver, but if you go to their website and listen to Andrew McGuires interview today, he spells out what is happening.
A lot of it is technical, but he talks about how the synthetic market (paper gold futures/options) have an effect on the physical market and the price.
Remember also, we here in the US see the price of gold in doll

My friend used to order the Filet of Fish sandwich at McDonalds phonetically from the menu.
On the menu it was Filet-O-Fish sandwich.
He used to say...'I would like to have a Fill It Dash Oh Dash Fish sandwich please'. I would crack up every time he did it.

I think the word 'performance' would need to be defined in the context of the discussion.
If performance is basically how deep can the unit detect, then that is very limited.
If performance encompasses not only depth, but accuracy of ID, target separation, ergonomics, etc. then it's a different ball game.
In the evolutionary chain, there were CZ's, Nautilus, Whites bi

Brian,
This was in NJ on a beach that had an arcade and lockers on it back in 1940's and 50's. Most of the silver coins were Mercury dimes. Guess that was the fare back then for a locker or

Nice score Shovel.
Just as impressive is the junk. I don't see much if any iron. Small fishing swivels can mimic small gold. Looks like the MDT was humming.

LowBoy,
Do you think it will have the same functionality as the Nox, where you can hunt in multi or switch to a single frequency ?
There are still some advantages running single frequency in certain environments.
I am selling a few units to have some dry powder when this comes out, as well as possibly a few other units.

About 10-12 years ago I was on the beach in the dry sand hunting a boardwalk demolition project. They were using a backhoe to move the sand from under the boardwalk to a spot on the beach. They were spreading it out so a bunch of hunters showed up and started detecting. There was a guy using a Pantera. He cleaned up. He was finding more silver coins in the trash and iron than all of the other hun
