Many machines can read deep coins (Items) as iron on the edge of the detection range... With Discrimination depth level adjustment you choose where the disc range ends... So say with the GM5+.... At Disc level 15 the discrimination range will go to the end of the detection range, say at level 7 the discrimination range is reduced so you start reading iron items at the end of the detection range

My vote goes for to the Relic...... DI3 running near flat out on sensitivity and tone break set at 20..... Not many machines come near, but both solid machines at the end of the day, put either in my hand and you'll see me smile.

The Disc Depth Level is key here, get it right and the deeper non ferrous stuff will sound sweet... Get it wrong and so will ferrous stuff, balancing act on power

Yes.... It's an upgrade as such over the original GM5 machine and around £500 from Golden Mask direct Des.

Golden Mask 5+ (First Field Run)
11" coil ** Quick Video Added **
Out for the first time with this machine yesterday and my first impression was.. STABILITY.
The machine ran way less chatty than the original GM5 to the point there was no chatter even while running this machine beyond warm settings.
For the most part I just wanted to see what this machine could do by running all s

Personally I don't mind the machine.... Is it the best machine on the market?? No there are many more that outperform it, but I truly feel it has a fun factor to it, taking its self less serious than some of the hardcore focused machines out there, intentional who knows.
I never tried the first batch but the MXS needs to go on a diet and build materials could be better in some areas, sure

I would think most manufacturers have scouts eyes in most forums, it's important for them to keep upto date and have ears to the ground, if I've not misunderstood your post.

Thank you all..... The more thoughts on this matter the better, I'm not beach hunting for a few months but this question I've had on my mind for a little while, I'm soley a field hunter due to living far from any salt water, but I just feel that lower kHz would be a less skittish choice... As Des D said, this makes sense to me but I've also asked this on Facebook and with here

Doing a little Research as I'm not a beach hunter but would like to know what kHz is best for the wet salt sand on a VLF machine.
I know high kHz for gold hunting in highly mineralised ground but wonder if this is different for wet salt sand hunting.
Many thanks in advance.

Thank you Tom, I'm only 99% off your level of expertise... Getting there slowly though :0)
Funny enough I did a video out in the field last week answering two questions I get asked a lot, what machine should I buy and what's the current state of detectors.

Give me a single tone machine with visual ID and I would be a happy man, forget discrimination as that will only hinder things... Just need a beep and a look.

GOLDEN MASK 5+
The brand new GM5+ has turned up and I've just been playing around with this machine and the original GM5 to see where gains have been made.
I've been doing some basic tests that I do with all machines before I hit the field and things are looking good.
With near identical sized coils on both machines I can already see where physical gains have been made and this

I've got this coming in tomorrow or Monday so I will do a comparison video on the GM5+ against the GM5, but the refined audio and extra depth should be pretty cool.

Managed to get a Field video done here.....
More or less running basic settings....18 kHz with the concentric coil and 8 kHz with the larger DD coil.
Next outing I'm going for the deep stuff.
Truly is a fast machine with lots of potential

RUTUS ALTER 71, small target hunting!
Out today finishing up footage for the Video and was running 18 kHz on the concentric coil.
Was shooting for small stuff and I wasn't let down with what came up size wise.
This little coin came up with lovely audio and around 4" down.
I'm sure with the quality audio the machine produced on this coin it could of reached down around aroun
