I am having problems trying to get the best settings on the racer 2. I have found some coins in places that I have detected with other detectors, but not many more. I have been running in 3 tone most of the time. The ground balances around 65, so not bad ground. I am trying to get a good high sound on targets that are in with trash.
I was able to find a good civil war button with the racer 2.

I ask this on another forum 1 year ago. How many people on here when you are out detecting, see someone using a detector that you have knowledge about, offer to help them with settings? On the other forum they would only help, if ask for help. I made some changes on a persons detector, and they liked how it did. I did not put the changes in a program for them, but if they had ask me to I would ha

Most of the buttons and musket balls I have found, were found with the DFX. The settings that people use on any detector can make a big difference, on what they find.

I have only tried cl mode in our yard 2 times ...... that is not a good test for it with all the trash. I have used bp mode at different places with good success.

The DFX is a good detector. I have 2 of them that my brother and I use. I have no idea what detectors that you are use to, so I can't say how it will compare with them.

I am not talking about what it sounds like. Mixed mode is operating in motion and non-motion at the same time, and it does go deeper when using mixed mode.

I am not talking mono or anything like that. I am talking mixed mode like on White's DFX and others like that. You get the same effect as using pinpoint, without having to pull a trigger or push a pinpoint button to be able to hear what is in the ground. It has a fast recoverery speed.

It would be nice if all detectors had the option of being able to use mixed mode. Most detectors use VCO for pinpointing. So with using mixed mode, it is like using discriminate and pinpoint at the same time, and it does not null out as much between targets. I like to be able to hear most everything in the ground, to decide what I want to dig, and using mixed mode helps me do that. It can be extr

I ordered the Racer 2 and the OOR coil. There are some places that are loaded with old and modern trash that I have pulled good targets from, and I know there are more targets to dig.

If people just use maps or word of mouth from owners of the property they want to hunt, you will miss a lot of good spots to look. I have looked on maps from 1849 --- 1891 and there are a lot of places that are not listed on the maps. Some of my better coins, buttons and other things come from places that don't show on maps.
The places that I found were where a house had been, because t

Iron mask out a lot of good targets. Places that are loaded with lots of iron, I remove as much as possible, that way it is easier to find good targets.
