I had the V3 years ago and most coils I had for the DFX would not work on the V3. The V3 would kill batteries real fast, especially if you used boost on it

It would be nice to have a chart comparing detectors and coils. Although it would be hard to do with all the detectors and coils out there. Ground conditions would make the deciding factor on how they operate.

In September my brother and I drove around 120 miles each way to a place and took the detectors along and found very little. We kept looking at the weather maps for weeks before our trip and they kept showing lots of rain there, when we got there it was bone dry and hard digging.

I am talking things like axe heads and pieces of steel 1 or 2 inches wide and 8 or 10 inches long x 1/2 inch thick that give a solid higher beep, with the numbers not bouncing around any. With other detectors I get an iron grunt on them.

I have been detecting more than 9 years. I am just saying to do away with the big iron using id filter, I have to set it really high. I only look at the id number if it gives a good sound, and that is what it is doing on big iron. IH pennies and buttons read lower than the tone it is giving on big iron. I try running a detector so I hear most everything in the ground, the Racer 2 is the worst det

I did some testing with bigger pieces of iron with the Racer 2. Setting the id filter high enough to eliminate the iron, I would be passing all coins reading under a dime. The coils I have tried are the 5 OOR and the 7x11. Using the Racer 2 in any field I would have to use another detector and clean out the iron first, because it struggles in the fields with iron.

Ok if I set the id filter higher and get it to run smoother, that still does not explain why it gives a good tone and id on big pieces of scrap iron.
An axe head and pieces steel 9 1/2 x 1 x1/2 inch, 10x1 1/2x1/4 or a steel ring 7x4 inch 1 inch thick read as a coin.

The Racer 2 is really noisy unless I have the sensitivity set low. Using beach mode it runs the quietest for me, and I can use higher sensitivity.
One thing I don't like is on the Racer 2 I have dug more bigger pieces of scrap iron that give a good sound and number, than the DFX, F75 LTD and AT PRO all put together.

I look at this forum for information from knowledgeable people. Lately almost every topic gets turned into a drama by a very small number of people manly one person.
I like it as a detecting forum, not everything else.
Most times I don't log in or post, because I get tired of everything turning into a drama by one individual.

Plowing the fields every two or three years would bring up more targets in detecting range, but is anyone offering to help with the expense for fuel and equipment, to do that.
Then also you hear people complaining about erosion of the soil anytime they work the ground.
To say the spray that farmers use is corrosive to metal I doubt that, I have dug things in places that have never been spra

I have to agree having to make a video to show a problem on a detector or anything else don't make since. If a detector is acting up how do you know when it will act up, so you can film it? Say if I carry a camera and film it when it screws up, I have no idea how to put it on the computer so I can send it.

I have noticed in some places that EMI is bad at some times of the day and not other times. The yard that I am talking about, is bad every time of the day. There is an electric fence about 50 or 60 yards away. I had the 75 LTD upgraded, so I will give that a try. I have detected a lot closer to an electric fence with no problems at other places.
I am not giving up on the place, I just need

EMI - 8 years ago
There is one yard that I have detected in that has real bad EMI or something else. I have tried a Titan 3000, Garrett 2500, White DFX, V3, AT PRO, 75 LTD and Racer 2 in the yard. There are no wires going over the yard, they run to the back of the yard about 50 yards away from the front where I am trying to detect. Of all the detectors I listed the only ones that I could find anything with, was t

I scan in two tone to find a clean spot then push trigger forward & hold and pump coil up & down.
There is problem using the 7x11 going over a coin it will beep two or three times, unless I raise it up about 7 inches over the coin.

I was wondering if anyone hears a beep when you ground balance the Racer 2? According to the manual it should beep when it is ground balanced. I have never heard it beep when I ground balance, I just hear a broken up clicking sound.
After I got the Racer 2. It would not give me a break in tone, except in three tone. I could throw a dime or quarter on the ground using two tone or any other

The area I am looking in is loaded with old and modern trash. It is a park from early 1800s. There is one area that people told me about that had lots of activity, and people found a lot of silver coins in. Using the AT PRO I found a 3c piece 1852, 10c from Canada 1909 & 1901 IH, from that spot, so far the racer 2 has found nothing there. In 2 tone I get an iron grunt with a faint high tone w
