At the "certain" turf spot you speak of, it'll have to be . Because I've kicked the butts of EQX guys there. No matter how much they fiddle with the controls.
But admittedly, this park is sort of an anomaly. So let's also try it @

I know this forum is dedicated to comparing all the technology of md'ing. Ie.: Which mousetrap is better Right ?
But as you can see, while the rest of us were doddling around with expensive machines, and $20 words, and complicated tech jargon, this guy figured it out : It's with the lowly humble Garrett Ace beginner machines. HOW COULD WE HAVE BEEN SO FOOLISH !

Gold coins are mostly found on the west coast. Very very few east coast hunters ever get one. Even east coast hardcore hunters, with scores and scores of LC's colonial coppers, busts, seateds, will usually never find a gold coin.
But on the west coast, lots of hunters have 1 or 2, etc.... Some with 8, or 10, or a dozen, etc....
There has been many posts about the reasons for this.

I got 3 small phoenix buttons : # 6, # 8, # 14 All the common style and common #'s. But I love 'em
Fun hunt ! Great way to start the year. Love the preview signals and live reveals. Good video !

Good job.
I agree with T-Slick: If the objective is to deduce "clean line-of-sight air test TIDs", then *technically* it should be done without staples. Even though they're slight and small (and not gonna mask the coin, of course), yet they will draw down the TID a tad, I would think.

Thanks. Needless to say, if he had shown the resulting TID, it wouldn't have read on quarter anymore. It would have been drawn down a bit.
So I wonder how the test would work when someone elects to pass round tabs too ?
I have been under grandstand bleachers (blt. 1920s) where there was an ocean of tabs and foil. So it was not a location to "be a hero" and look for nickel

Brian, I was yelling at my computer screen at 8:40. D/t you kept me in suspense for over 2 days waiting for the reveal, haha
Congratz on 3 PB's in a single hunt. You've got your machines dialed in. You also have a 6th sense on where to swing the coil. Ie.: sizing up a site, mentally mapping out historic people-movement, etc....
But don't let these compliments go to your h

Yes. I would like to see it put it through paces for cherry-picking junky urban parks. There are some machines that if you cover a deep silver coin with a foil wad or beaver-tail, that your resulting average drives the TI

That's a nice test of "separation" . But what about a test of "averaging" ? I Would like to see the rusty nails placed OVER the dime. To see if it can mimic what the old 77b could do. And what some Tesoro 2-filter machines do.

Really ? Why ?
If I were a manufacturer, I would pass out prototypes for review. NOT just to get some user feedback from those they sent it to, but for a much bigger "Madison Ave. purpose "

I like how you prefaced the testing duels by clarifying and insisting that : You are not going to allow yourself to be biased to give favorable reviews. SIMPLY because you'd been given a test prototype.

Another factor to consider is not so much "will you hear the deeper/masked target", but also: "What will it sound like " ? Because if everything begins to sound-the-same, then you've lost your ability to discern desirable vs undesirable .

That was a fun trek Brian. Great video ! But I should note that when you showed the still-shot of my reale, that it was 1796, not 1797
All 4 of our phoenix buttons were type 1 style 1, and common #'s. But to us, they are all a goal-unto-themselves. According to the rarity chart :

Although he's not being very heroic or picky in this video. Only ~ 5 or 6" deep. ( & threshold too high, IMHO)

There's been a *few* hobbyist videos done with/for the express purpose of capturing the audio. Try to find those. Because if the videos are simply just someone with an open hole saying "look what my Explorer found", then that's not he
