Stick with your ACE 250..... as it is nearly untouchable for that price. It'll serve you great...... until you can afford a CZ. Save your money for a CZ. For the price, the ACE 250 is best in it's depth AND target ID accuracy abilities. It's only about 2" shy of the depth of a CZ w/8" coil. The 1236-X2, ID Edge, ID Excel.... Minelab Advantage have similar depth capabilit

thanks tom, but the cz a little more than i can afford right now. what about the 1270 or the minelab advantage for depth and disc. the problem iam having is choosing a detector thats versatile and one that i have confidence in. i use to own a garrett master hunter and the fisher 1280 back in the early 90's but iam just getting back into the hobby. iam using the ace 250 now it a nice little

Hi Tom/Ev1
Do you use a FZ1 on your CZ-3D?
I read Indian Heath was using a Sun Ray S1 on a Minelab Sovereign GT which i thought was pretty cunning and ingenious. What kind of depth do you get on a CZ with a Sun Ray?They quote 3inchs on their website so is this a true/realistic figure.
I was put off buying a FZ1 due to the silly price in the UK...£169 or $338 but now can get one for £70

Hi Tom
Thanks for the info.
I have read all the related posts on this discussion board and many others.I like the super fast ID'ing on the F75 and also the iron trash performance..almost decided now.
Keep up the excellent work!

Hi Rich,
If mineralization is medium-high (or higher).... go with the Explorer. If you hunt "Wet Salt" beaches; go with the Explorer (or CZ). If you hunt somewhat trashy areas (especially iron trash) inland.... go with F-75. Dry sand..... go with F-75. Open fields with medium mineralization (or less) .... go with CZ w/large coil (10.5"). ...... Unless F-75 comes out w

Hi Tom/Everyone
I am considering getting a new detector soon.I currently have a CZ5 (with 8" and 10.5" coils) which i intend to keep.
After reading alot of field tests/opinions on the F75 and Minelab SE i still can't decide either way.
For me the F75 is in front mainly due to the price...in the UK the F75 is £599 and the SE is £895.
I hunt for coins on beach and inland. The in

With the F-75 at max Sens and on 'de' or 'pf' mode..... a .22 Long Rifle rimfire bullet/projectile (40 Grains) is a formidable target in this mode.
With "JE" mode invoked on F-75,,, with all other settings the same...... a .22 Short hollow-point rimfire bullet/projectile (26 Grains) is a formidable target to F-75.

Hi Bill,
Your F-75 beach experience is right on target. ...... As far as recommending a CZ for the beach,,,,,, they all perform about the same; however, I'd slightly prefer the CZ-70 over a 7. All non CZ-20 units have a Salt/Normal selector function; a important tool. If shallow-water hunting..... a splash-proof (digital) CZ is recommended....,,,,, unless you are quite careful wit

I have (now) had approx one dozen F-75's thru my hands, bench & test-garden. One unit had a bad coil. Swapping coils.... ALL of the units were absolutely identical in performance in every respect (nearly completely digital platform). There are virtually no internal adjustments on the F-75's.
Your dirt mineralization is most probably the cause of your experienced results. Also,

Hi Wally,
A CZ-3D or Minelab Sov in a Shower Cap cover..... if underwater ops are not a requirement. Otherwise..... there really is not much of a selection (performance wise) in that price range.

Tom I realize that this is the "inland coin and relic" site. I was wondering if there might someday be a site for water machines.
I am currently using a Excalibur and struggling with the decision of which PI detector to buy. I'm leaning toward the Infinium LS as it seems like it might not only be a good water detector, but also be a good addition to local relic hunting. I'v

Here's the scenerio. While rehunting sites I pick up coins on occasion that only read good from one direction of approach. This is usually in the springtime but can occur regardless if there was a deep frost the previous winter or not.
Now when checking the dirt pile/dirt clod in all metal which I always do because of the amount of iron co-located targets at these type sites, on the coi

I have been running various F-75 Proto's for several months now.... and I must say there is legitimate justification as to why I DID NOT report any initial findings with early generation Proto's.... as the final product differs dramatically from the original Proto, in respect to operating characteristics.

I know Dave wanted to cure the 'mild hunger' that the CZ has for iron.... And Dave had some other ideas about ID capabilities. I believe the F-75 will address what Dave really had in mind for the Original CZ. Hard to believe the CZ was released Thanksgiving, 1990..... is a 16 year old platform........ and remains (overall) #1 choice by today's standards. Minelab Explorer has near
