Anyone tried these coils on the racer?

I've used the Nel coils before but not on the racer, they tend to be a bit on the heavy side not bad. Was wondering about these Mars coils thx

I have the 5 x 10 Makro so I have little interest in the 6 x 10. The stock coil is large enough for me. Anything larger and the balance goes way off. Besides I got the Racer 2 for the iron areas. Small coils all the way for me. But those coils do like nice.

I heard they are a lother lighter than Nel coils

I would stick with the 5.5x10 Racer coil. Nothing wrong with the Mars Sniper it works great on the G2. As far as the Mars 10x13 it's no heavier than the stock and balances great. I have one for the Omega and the Racer 2. Very stable coils, no falseing on stubble and separation is way better than I expected.

I've been looking at buying the 13x10 coil Tom, how does it fair in depth against the standard racer coil? thanks

Was looking they don't sell any Mars coils in the USA dang

I haven't compared it against the stock coil. On a freshly buried 11" quarter in 81 dirt it hits it with ID in all modes. Haven't tried anything else and don't have a test garden.

What exactly is 81 dirt???

What did your mineral meter read when bobbing coil over the ground near your buried quarter??

Should have added that info

Ground balances at 81 with 1 bar on the mineral meter. After reading Keith post on how iSat effects the mineral meter reading I'll add that the isat is at the default setting of 6. So not real mild ground but not considered bad dirt either. Have always gotten decent depths around here.

I received the T2 Classic from Monte the other day and tested it at the same site on an 8" dime with the stock coil and it bounced iron/nonferrous Just a hint of a high tone. Had the G2 and R2 along with the 10" ellipticals mounted and they would only see the dime in all metal.

That sounds like some real good soil to detect in.

Btw,,my soil here quite a bit more mineralized than yours,,Racer 1 when Ground balanced,, number 56 approx comes in the screen.

56? The assumption I have always been under is that the higher readings indicate iron bearing magnetic soils. 81 indicates to me that my soil has magnetics properties however, it is the low level (1 bar max) that allows me to get good performance. G2, T2 Omega readings all agree with the Racer on soil type and level and how it is explained in the manuals.

Tom my ground was in the 80's too. I thought the high numbers meant mineralized ground too but I knew the ground was mild. Always wondered why the numbers were high.

I believe in a nutshell,,, mineral meter tells how mineralized,,,, the phase number tells more what kind of mineral-- not levels.

I have seen many folks for example who run At Pros-- they think high ground balance phase number means absolutely higher mineral-- soil may in fact be high mineral or it may not.
.
And remember different makes and models detectors-- this ground phase number displayed when compaating over the same spot of ground-- may or can be different,, for example my Xp Deus phase numbers readings over same ground,, different than Makro Racer 1 and F75dst models.

Here's a good link with info and comments.

TNSS

We are on the same track. Its the level of mineralisation and not the GB phase number itself. So I get 1 bar on the R2. I'll ask you the same question you put to me "what did your mineral meter read when bobbing"?

You lost me,,, I'm not understanding your question.

bars = volume of magnetite
number = response/phase/type depending on detector (can vary by frequency too)

I think the v3i gives the best ground info.

LOL

The mineral % meter, what does it show when you GB or bob the coil? I'm curious because you get a ground phase of 56 and state it is bad ground. Based on that I'm expecting it to show a high mineral reading.

Here is where I would like an expert like Mr Dankowski to weigh in on-- others are welcomed as well.

A test under extreme controlled environment.

If I take my F75 for example and balance it over say 4 bars ground,, and a ground phase number 56 comes up in the window. Lock this GB.

Now if I take this same detector to a spot that reads the exact same pHASE number but fe meter reads 2 bars,,,, And I balance it in this different location/ spot--- does anything internally/ electronically change as a result of the higher fe metered ground vs the less fe metered ground???

Anything aside from what signals/ data that drive the fe meter.

With stock coil on Racer1,, bobbing coil I get 5 of 8 slices of the pie graph shaded,,, and on F75 this equates to 4 bars.

Remember the key here is read with stock coil-- smaller coils can or may give less lower reading.

6 of 8 bars shaded on racer1 seems to equate to 5 bars on F75.

I have seen as many as 7 of 8 shaded on Racer1, but not in my area,, about 65 miles or so south the way the crow flies.

Biggest thing with knowing your ground mineral levels with detecting--- will tell operator based on experience when the detector is more likely to lie to them or not,,, missing deeper targets using disc,,, reading targets with incorrect TID,, or calling nonferrous targets ferrous.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad I don't have that kind of dirt to deal with. Now if only we had the relics to find like you guys.

Got a Nel snake on the way for R2 should be a good coil hopefully
