AKA Signum MFD came in the mail today thumbs down

As bad as I hate to I believe I better study the manual I just printed off. First impression is positive and it is nice and light. Hope to put it to work the next few days and see what happens.

Been hammering my sites with a CTX and Deus with a Vista Gold thrown in for good measure for 3 or more years now so do not expect to set the world on fire just yet .

Hey sometimes finding a few hidden masked targets is a big find when you missed them in the past....let us know how you do???

LowBoy

TAKE A LITTLE TIME KICKBACK AND WATCH SOME OF MY DETECTING VIDEO'S BELOW ON YouTube

If you don’t dig it, then how are you going to know what you’re missing!
How can you have your pudding if you don’t eat your meat!

I would read the manual and then go to a test garden with some deep targets buried and then tweak it until you get the best depth and response. Let us know how you make out. When John let me borrow his I made some real deep finds in areas I know I had hit before.

Congratulations on a good buy!
This upgrade version? - At the detector, there is a toggle switch coil current control, and the slider "overall gain"?
What is your reel?
ps: after prompt response from you as the easiest way to configure it to work.
With the upgrade, you can fine-tune the detector, and the method is slightly different.

No toggle switch on it.

Not absolutely it is clear, but if about preparation of the detector for operation, then:

Step 1 - language: (only once!)
AKA Signum MFD menu language

Step 2 - adaptation of the coil: (becomes when changing the coil or when you come to the place of search)
To press and hold "+" and Power On detector.
To release the button "+" in case of appearance of a text "the coil frequency"
Power Button
Plus Button

Step 3 - After adaptation of the coil the detector automatically will pass into the mode of "Ground Balance" (GB becomes on the new place of search, and sometimes by search)
Ground Balance *

* After execution of GB press the GB button for setup completion.
In this video badly carried out the GB procedure, but in English only it was

In this video advanced option of the GB setup when the boundary of a phase of soil moves closer to the level of processing of the detector:
GB Advanced

ps: For a start use factory programs, begin about number one and try to number three.
The program number four by default with the "DP" mode
psps: This manual only for the first start of the detector.
For good operation of the detector a few other algorithms are used.

Well done on getting your new detector,they certainly do seem interesting machine,the Hodograph on the screen could be a valuable aid in deciding on what targets to dig or leave,but how accurate depth wise are they still reliable till ?? i have only ever tried a Signum and was very impressed with it in the short time duration i used it,most of these fancy screens are only good for maybe 7-8'' then audio takes over.

It would be interesting to find out too what depth they are reliably in provided the information.

On average coins depth on light soil with identification about 16 inches
Identification works for Signum is specific, it is urgent to the level of loss of "ST" of a signal.
ps: In the last video about "GB Advanced" a coin from brass of 2 Euro cents in size at a depth of 43..45 cm (17 inches)

Depth in light soil 16 to 17 inches, and with good I.D., seriously?

Silverhound, see if you can acknowledge that.

On the street the snow, the video will not be.
Silverhound, I will suggest how to achieve a good result by Signum.
I need to know what kind of coil and whether there is an upgrade?

I'd say it would be deep in good soil, not sure how accurate the screen ID would be after 12" though. I've been told it suffers in poor soil which was the only thing that stopped me buying it.

Lol, Ozzie might just buy a permit for a certain park if you show an ID to 16".

AKA Signum MFD Pro deep search metal detector with 3 coils (15" at 7khz , 11.5" at 7khz , 6" by 10" AT 14 KHZ ) Not sure how to tell about updates but it is a new machine .

External sign upgrade AKA Signum:
The slider "Overall Gain", toggle switch "power supply coils", the waterproof cap "toggle power"
External signs upgrade

Notable internal changes during upgrade:
The most noticeable - tantalum capacitors yellow
Internal changes during upgrade

On Your coils - I recommend to start with 11" 7 kHz, as the most universal.
Waiting for a response from You on the availability of an upgrade.

ps: Let's try here are the settings programmed program number three:

(Configures the display of the detector: )
ST = 13
RT = 8
The volume level for headphones can be two, when using the speakerphone - at max.
(General menu: )
DP mode On
OG = 10
Buildup = 4
Scale = 1:2
Sound = RT-M99
Iron Border = -17
Volume, Weak Signal = 6
Volume of Iron = 3
(An additional menu, a long hold of the button "menu": )
Volume RT = 6
Current = Economy, The trigger current of the coil in a the position from itself (subject to availability upgrade, if not then upgrade the coil current set to normal)
Speed of MM = 2
Filter MM = 01
Filter False Signals of Soil = 04
Area of False Signals of Soil = 04
Filter T = 01
Filter A = 04

Ground balance make the "quiet" technique is using a General Strengthening in the menu or when you have upgrade use the slider Overall Gain, when in manual mode when swinging the coil up and down is smooth humming in both directions.
It is the boundary between the disappearance of buzz and a humming sound!
So it will be easier to start working with the detector.
"Quiet" Ground Balance
Manual Ground Balance, try to hold on search height from 5cm upwards. The signal ground must lie exactly horizontally, moving the display from one risk to another.
The speed of movement of the coil about the search - the average, when checking signal - low.

Just in yard testing . It will hit 12 inch dime with stock 11 inch coil. It is a bit different than my other machines for sure. Going on a three day relic and coin road trip later in the week and will test in the field.

Are you attending the JGD Relic hunt in Culpeper this weekend?

No, going to northern Missouri.

Most importantly you will learn how to carry out a clear GB and adaptation of the coil
Everything else will come with experience
What is the Signal level of Soil You have when conducting GB?
If less than 20 units you will be able to disperse detector ...
GB Signum Display
ps: Your detector without the upgrade.
To adjust the "Overall Gain" must be through a menu.

That's a very good result!
Looking forward to see how you get on with it.

ground phase runs 43% - 48%

Ground Phase is the digits on the left-bottom of the display at the GB.
Ground Phase shows how many degrees was offset with GB of the "zero" after the sensor adaptation.
This shift should tend to zero if it is different from zero then this is wrong, or produced adaptation of the sensor or sensor defect.
/ Sometimes it happens on heavy ground /
Ground Signal the digits to the right-bottom.
Ground Signal shows the signal strength from the ground during the GB.
If it is below 20, then it is easy ground and the detector can be overclocked to the maximum.
