Tesoro 12x10 Concentric Coil?

Hey guys,

I've got a Silver uMax with a 8" concentric coil....wondering if a 12x10 concentric coil would give me any better performance?
I've got fairly mild dirt...I'm looking for a bit more depth to detect in farm fields with it.

If so its quite deep on coins ...

Yes Keith...looking for a bit more depth if I can get it...I've heard this coil matches up well with the Silver uMax...

That big coil will throw off your ground balance. How will you know that your GB is off...since the Silver µMax has no threshold all-metal mode?

He can open case up and readjust if need be using GB pot..

Then He better know how to power balance it, since it has no threshold all-metal mode.

Back when I did the Outlaw field test, Rusty Henry and I kept in close contact over the phone. He said that quite a few people that tried to "Power Balance" their Tesoro failed and totally had it out of whack. He could walk them threw it if they had an external Ground Balance control. internally Ground Balanced...Forgetaboutit. If a person wants to swap coils around, they should do themselves a favor and get a manual ground balanced model like an Outlaw, Tejon or Vaquero in the current lineup, Better yet get an nice older big box Bandido.

Thanks Keith,

Took your advice....opened up the Silver uMax..added the 12x10 concentric coil and did a power balance...followed Monte's instructions.
Gained about 1 1/2 on a quarter...rock solid no falsing...works great
