Would get rid of any or all if something comes out thats.better. Why use an old obsolete detector when there is a better one available?

If they stopped making metal detectors today...and I had to choose only one...to keep forever...from all those I've used in the past...it would be the...

XP DEUS...for these reasons:

1. Lightweight
2. Up or down gradable
3. Super fast response and recovery
4. Very manageable and respectable depth
5. Collapses small enough to carry easily
6. User friendly (for me) adjustable settings
7. Back light
8. Can be used for shallow water hunting (with proper accessories)
9. And a few more good reasons I can't remember right now
10. Has a pretty good warranty too.

JMO...cool smiley

it would be a Nautilus2ba. It is hand made and built to last. Of course I have newer machines but i would sell them all and keep the Nautilus. It was built by a real relic hunter not an engineer who has specs to build by.

I could never figure out why the Nautilus machines have exposed batteries. It has probably never been a problem that I am aware of, but ever since I first saw one, I never did like how that was laid out.

Lucky that i am in a position too have more than one detector, but answering the original question i have thought long and hard and it would have to be my original green T2,found me the most gold including Celtic gold and 1/4 staters and milled gold coins as well,it may be a few years old but still produces, with a selection of coils covers most of 'my' site conditions needs.

Just a very good all round reliable 'productive' workhorse, thats all i want from a detector.

Daniel TN,
The batteries on all Nautilus are on the outside just in case they would ever leak battery acid. Doesn't happen often with any detector but this is one way to protect the electronics from contamination of battery acid.

Your selection is very interesting. I have been in the market for a PI machine primarily for nugget hunting, and have been very tempted to choose the TDI Pro for many reasons. Among them coil choices, and Whites support ( I only live 15 min. from them.) however, I have not pulled the trigger as I can find almost no one who talks about being successful with this unit. Everyone (including dealers for multiple lines) line up behind the big Australan 800# GPX gorilla.

I would be very interested in hearing why you think the TDI Pro is your "keeper machine", and understanding more of its capabilities from someone who owns one vs someone who owns the GPX and thinks it is the only detector capable of performing as a nugget shooter.

How do you get down to 10 machines, much less down to only one? too many types of detecting and too many types of soil to hunt in different places to limit yourself to only one detector.... But I will play. Mine would without a doubt be my ...Minelab Excalibur. it is dependable and finds lots of silver and gold for me in and around the saltwater beaches. It has paid for all my other detectors, which my wife will tell you that I have too many. I still do not know why she thinks that...Stuart

The 3030. I have way too many machines, most I hardly ever use but the CTX tends to be my go to machine.

I have owned 2 GP machines and 2 TDI's, with the TDI series you can select the size/conductivity of the Items that you want and the TDI SL can tune out EMI and ignores Thunder Storms completely, Both brands are first rate machines.

My Etrac with Sun Ray probe would have to become profoundly obsolete before I'd ever consider turning loose of it.
