Gimmic or Not?

I was watching detecting videos and saw a guy using this thing called a electroscope. How can this possibly work?
Tom D. or anyone, will you check this out and tell us if this gadget can possibly do what they say it can. Go to electroscopes.com and watch the videos. For the top of the line electroscope they ask 6K..Yikes!!

Edit - What I'm asking: (question to the electronics wizzards) is that possible? Any Takers?

Those LRLs have never been scientifically proven to work.
And I use the word scientifically loosely, that is nobody has
demonstrated that they work at all.
They are nothing but dowsing rods.
Snake oil at its best.

When you see that you pay the shipping to return the unit , and on top of shipping you have to pay a 15% restocking fee .......Heck , they can make money on this detector simply restocking it !!.....LOL !!....Jim

Those look like the bomb sniffers that the Iraqi military was swearing by and the US military said was useless. They were paying a LOT more for them though... probably the same thing though.
