So Quest Detectors are now being sold in the USA

Now that Andy Sabisch is handling the line http://www.treasurehuntingoutfitters.com/detectors/
I will assume there will be a wider acceptance of this brand detector...........................

Most dealers in the US have access to sell them. Some are waiting for others to spend their money evaluating before offering to their customers. The 40 sure seems like an original unstable T2 to me.

I have been watching the videos on YouTube of the Quest 40 and Pro. The Pro caught my eye first. After watching some videos of in ground hunting and air testing, I don't think it is a line I am interested in trying. The Pro especially had my attention with the hype/intro video and features. That was until I saw Deep Digger Dan's test videos of it.

I am not impressed that Deteknix got caught with their hand in the First Texas cookie jar [www.dankowskidetectors.com] and then made a quick name change to Quest in an attempt to leave that embarrassing incident behind.

Sorta like changing your sign on name to escape your previous posting life !
I'm not interested in anything that's fake/stolen or copied!
Quest has a checkerd past that will be hard to escape!

I have no idea why anybody would buy from this dishonest and unethical company?

What's the appeal? Cheap detectors? Are they doing anything original and innovative?

The new QuestPro is not the same as the one Deep Digger Dan tested

To add to this, with all the deep discount fire sales and repackaging FTP is doing, can these guys even be competitive with FTP pricing?

Digger Dan and a few others who had made videos, had the orig Pro, it is not to be confused with the new one being released in Dec.
Tony Hunt in the UK will be doing some videos. He has a pre-production Pro he's taking on another hunt this weekend.
Anyways, its just another choice in detectors that may appeal to some and others not.
I will say, if you, like me, have a bad wrist, elbow and shoulder, the lightweight and balance of the Q40 with the 5x9 coil allows you to hunt for at least 2-3x longer than
when using a heavier detector. I am good for about 1 1/2 hours with the Nokta Impact before the pain starts, with the Q40 can hunt all day.
So you can hate bash me for using a Quest, physically my joints don't care what others think..........

No hate/basing, just curious. If someone steps up and builds a better mouse trap it's nice to know what they have. I do like the light weight aspect (and yes I agree, as much as I enjoy the Impact, the ergonomics/weight are a bit challenging). One of the reasons I'm routing for the Equinox is the weight factor, plus it pretty much has everything in a single machine I've been wanting/asking for/hoping someone would produce for the past 5-6 years. I had hoped that FTP would be the one to make such a machine, but if it's Minelab, I'm OK with that too thumbs down

The Equinox looks interesting, the smaller lightweight, compact concept is very appealing. Going to wait and see how everyone likes theirs.

Wow that's not confusing at all...two different machines with the same name from the same company? I feel like we are reliving the Blisstool saga. Haha

It would be interesting to know how many of the newer companies that have sprung up in the last lot of years have actually designed and built their detectors from the ground up, using their own 100% software that wasn't a product of some sort of reversed engineering.

I remember reading NASA Tom's test on the Racer, i'm in no way saying that Makro copied the T2 software, but they certainly had similarities which Tom highlighted.

Here's a few quotes from NASA Tom's test,

So far. . . . I have tested the Racer on the bench and test-garden. My findings/thoughts....... thus far:

Here is my lengthy dissertation on assembly & ergonomics: Far above average.

_______________________________________________________

Thoughts/feelings:
Extreme similarities to F75/T2 platform. . . . . . such as: audio language, nearly identical 11" x 7" elliptical DD coil, VDI 00 - 40 is iron...... identical to T2, nickel ID & dime ID nearly identical to T2, push/pull trigger switch functionality, similar menu tooling/thought process...... and a host of other features.
This units ID accuracy is nearly identical to T2/F75 platform.

Even back in the beginning just change the name. GBDISC/ SPD/ VLF DISC. It's all the same just use a different terminology! But how many lawsuits do I recall? I think it may be zero! Sign of the times.

All I can say to this is - Makro / Nokta - Rock ....... Go TEKNETICS & I could not care less who hates or loves deteknix/Quest -

I will be buying and using their products as my X-Pointer is still going strong after 3 1/2 years & there is enough deception in this industry to keep Sherlock Holmes stuffing his opium pipe for the next 30yrs -

I like Deteknix and Quest products if I remember right Makro and Nokta had a lot of haters when they first came out. Give them a chance guys they're a decent detector company. If your not interested in their products why hate on them if you haven't gave them a try?

You're right Sven if they give them a try I about guarantee that they will like them. They are made in China but guy's this ain't Chinese junk this is a company that actually cares about the products they make and sell. And they are nothing like a Teknetics T2 clone like some have said

is it just me or does the Q40 look just like the Equinox? Same straight shaft, same coil wire going straight in to the back of the controller, same looking screen.

Kind of like trucks nowadays.. I open the door of my ford van, it opens just like a chevy van. I turn the key, just like a chevy van. The motor starts , just like a chevy van, I put the shifter in gear, the wheels turn, just like
a chevy van................... Alright Ford, you been coping chevy, or is it the other way around????? Everyone is copying everyone basically now days.... That's progress.

I would love to see an AT pro/gold/max in this housing and rod set up. I don’t care if different brands look alike as long as the ergonomics are right and i like how the machine performs. I love how detectors are becoming more compact, lighter, waterproof/resistant and rechargeable especially like how you can recharge the Equinoxes while detecting. Wouldn’t surprise me if we eventually see a small solar panel built in to keep us charged while detecting. I’m very happy with my deteknix headphones for deus and scubatector they are built very well.
