The ATM isn't even in the same league as the Impact, easy choice.

The Impact is a very deep machine, excellent in iron and with relics. Lot of different modes to suit your hunting preference, and something the AT Max does not have, is the ability to switch frequencies. The ATM is stuck at 13.6kHz whereas the Impact can select from 5kHz, 14kHz or 20kHz (my preference for iron infested sites). Get the Nokta wireless headphones and you're set thumbs down

Impact gets my vote unless you plan on water hunting.

Between those two---easy choice---Impact (all the way)!

Having ONLY two choices to pick from makes it super easy. What type of detecting are you planning on doing? How did you get down to these two choices? Those two detectors seem miles apart.

I have the A T Pro, never tried the Impact, (and wonder if those promoting the Impact have tried the Max) and I found the A T Pro to be a very good relic and coin hunting machine. Supposedly the Max is a little deeper then the Pro. And the Max is waterproof. On paper, the Impact does appear to have more going for it then does the Max???

However, at this stage of the game, so to speak, if it was me trying to decide which detector, I would wait a little bit longer and see what the Equinox is all about. At this point it is sounding pretty good. Good luck with your decision. HH jim tn

I have used both detectors and would take an impact any day over the AT Maxx. Heck I would take the AT Pro over the AT Max.....;o)

The Impact unless you're planning on water hunting with the detector submerged. Even then, I'd get the Impact and skip water hunting unless it was less than 3' deep.

I have had both. Between the two I would pick the Impact but then again like I say, I had both and currently have neither.

Impact is a very good all arounder except not waterproof.

Good modern trash hunter,,if a person knows how to use properly.

Good hunting in heavy iron hunter.

Good cheerry picking detector is a person knows how to run.

Lots of ways to run detector and be successful.

Audio, behavior of audio ranks in top tier IMO compared to other detectors I have run.

Can be made to like low conductors better.
Can be made to like higher conductors better.
Can be made to like both.

If Impact would have came out 20 years ago,,,oh boy!!!!

It is a contender!!!!

This is not to say there are things other detector models can't do better.
But for one detector,,all the way around ranks very good.

I tested /used one pre- release boatloads, froze my rear end off at times too.
I liked what I saw.
Used in controlled sites too where other good detectors had been used.

I saw tendencies using I liked very much.
