What is this? Mystery item ID help confused smiley

Found this detecting at an old site that was primarily in use from the early 1800's to the turn of the century.

I have no idea what it is, thinking it may be a gun part, but could be way off. Looks like it was made to slide onto something flat (like the top of a gun barrel)....but not really sure.

Don't recall ever seeing anything similar Brian. I'm very curious to find out as well.

Shotgun shell puller, that makes sense (especially considering the amount of shotgun shells found there). ...it's made out of brass, and boy did it sound good!

Thanks Rod and Bay thumbs down

NP!! I love finding out what all the "whats-its" are....just wish a couple on my list could get ID'd. Have sent some off to some colonial experts....no clues found yet.

Oh well. I was hoping it would be the long lost Vulcan ring Spock lost so many years ago. But its nice to have folks on here who are helpful and can assist in helping to let someone know what they have found. Good job Rod....
