Somebody asked, so here’s how I do it. Others, including Keith southern have previously shown how they do it.

I use a web app called TinyPic - here’s the link

[tinypic.com]

First, you get this screen

You click on the “choose file” and it should bring up your photo album, pick a picture, then go to the Resize box and choose a size from the drop down menu - I use the one called 15” screen.

then click upload - you may get a window whchich makes you enter something to prove you are not a robot

Here’s what comes up next if it works right (it soesn’t Always, just keep trying)

On this screen, copy the code in the line for “IMG Code for Forums...”

Now just past that into your message, then click preview and see if it all worked.

This forum is a PIA when compared to others and FB.
It takes like 5 seconds on there. And everybody says I am the Grumpy Old Man behind the times.

The reason is the cost of storage. IF the forum lets you upload the picture to the forum, then the forum owner has to pay for all the storage. By just adding the link, the forum just “fetches” the picture when you load the message, no storage of the image takes place.

I agree it’s a pain. The only MD forum I know of which allows direct upload is Steve Herschbach’s Detector prospector Forum.

i upload directly to Tnet and findmall. findmall makes me downsize my pics.

I forgot about T’net - yes they allow actual upload. Findmall, as far as I can see has exactly the same set up as here - you click on the “mountain/sun” icon and you enter the web address where the picture is stored.

FM, T-Net, DP, AZO all easy forums to upload pics to. No intermediary site required.

Rick,
A lot of people miss the correct way to do this on FM.
--> Don't use the mountain/sun icon. <--
Look above that whole toolbar to the blue text that says, "Upload File ..."

It will then show you the file upload limits with this text:
"Valid attachments: gif, jpg, png, jpeg
No file can be larger than 480 KB
6 more file(s) can be attached to this message"

I.E. you can directly upload 6 pictures to FM as long as they're no larger than 480k each...which is a perfectly fine size.

(Maybe if the blue text said, "Upload Images", or "Upload Pictures" instead of "Upload File" it would make it easier to spot.)
