US Mint

Watched a good show on the History channel about the Mint and there struggle with early coin making.
Thy could not keep up with demand with hand pess machines.
Later thy talked about bank notes , and how little people thought of them .
The farther the note was from the bank it was drawn on the more it was devalued.
Once it was a few states away it would be worthless for lack of trust with the bank that it came from.

I think it was titled Money but have not found it on demand yet.

How ironic, and how times have changed.

Man I love the History Channel, if I had cable I'd watch it all day.
That's why I don't have it!

One of the reasons as to 'why' paper money was NOT respected.

I believe.......... (if I remember correctly)................ in 1840............... one half the coins in circulation (in the U.S.) ....... were Spanish.
It took our mints quite some time...... before they could 'feed' the needs of commerce.

And as they print up more and more paper, people are once again losing respect for it, and looking to gold and silver for safety. Europe is getting real interesting, looks like the Euro will soon collapse.
