Man, if you want a standard package w/a 6" coil and waterproof headphones your lookin at around $3k!
I never spent anywhere close to that on one machine.

kellyco took off the three coil offer. but for 1800 bucks you can have a carrybag, digger, knife, two books, the detector, and have the option of buying an additional 1000 detector for like 180 bucks....... just saying

I would still love to see a cheaper version of this new detector. Maybe some day. Will this appeal to beach hunters? Not any deeper. The screen is useless in the water. For the price of over two Excaliburs? Wow!

Well, get this, even with the dollar Euro exchange rate taken into account, you guys are getting it at a much better price than here in Europe, at least from what I can gather.

$2300 = €1800 Euros, but in Germany the starter unit is around €2300 Euros, which is $2900!!!
$2500 = €1975 Euros, but in Germany the starter unit is around €2500 Euros, which is $3170!!!!!!

I have to say, the price of electronic items, like fuel, is much cheaper in the States than here in Europe. (Current avg for regular fuel in the states is $3.70 a gallon - $4 premium, in Germany it's €1.73 per LITER for 95 grade. 3.7L = 1 gallon, €6.40 a gallon if my math is correct!)

Ooooohhhhh,
Albert

The prices were not supposed to be released till today. I wonder how the dealers felt seeing how Big Boys tried to get a jump on the competition?

goodmore..... a couple of the SOV gurus seem to love it. Take a look at Gary Draytons comments on the ML website. It will be interesing how it will be modified for deep water because you know someone will just have to do it. Thats a lot of money for it and coils.... but the beach at least you could pay for it quickly. If you are coin hunting..... ouch. There wont be any worth reading for awhile after release. Someone will put it to the test.... if it floods out there then we will see how ML deals with the problem. Will they just say....its not designed as a water machine.

I would not mind paying that much more for performance, but it was said that it is not deeper than the Etrac. I can live without the GPS, waterproofing, color screen, adjustable tones. My question is, are you paying that much for a detector with the same depth and performance as an etrac with some added features. I guess we will see......

Take a look at Gary Draytons website, those finds of his are unbelievable.
I'd be happy with just a couple of those finds in a lifetime.

Gary's finds are truly amazing and proves a very important point.

Location and where you hunt are much more important that what you hunt with.

A CTX3030 on a sanded in beach is not going to find more than an old CZ20 on an eroded beach.

Aaron,

I released prices when Minelab allowed us to release it. Not a minute sooner.

Thanks!

Here in the U.K, the standard pack is priced at 2000 pounds, about 3100 US dollars. Ouch.

Are the european prices so much higer due to VAT/taxes?
Re: New Minelab - $2299 for the starter pack $2499 for the standard

About 20% taxes/VAT over there. I have had dealers over there tell me I can reduce all their prices by 20%, If I wanted to purchase from them.

I'm unsure about Australian sourced goods. Minelabs other products don't seem so different in price between USA and UK, maybe 10% higher here, not the 25% extra the CTX seems to be. US-made goods cost a lot more here (seems like 40 - 60% more), the only exception I've noticed among detecting products is the Garrett Pro-pointer, which seems the same price as it is in the US. I suspect it is being discounted for some reason, though it doesn't have any serious competition here. It typically sells for 87 pounds, about 140 US dollars.

To me a good hunting areas supersedes high priced steroid units.....I can hear the door slamming on a few doors when the wife hits the bricks or vice versa which is more like it.. In any case good luck in your choices and of course everyones cash flow differs...Gee I may take up golf comes to mind....

Man Bart is a go getter! You have to give him credit for that.
Re: New Minelab - $2299 for the starter pack $2499 for the standard

I was watching three different dealer's websites for the price. They all posted about the same time. One of them was Bart's.

Am I the only guy holding on to the E Trac for a while longer?

I am also waiting for Minelab to announce the models that will be discontinued.

I was under the impression that those were List Prices, not the selling price? I bet if you shop around the dealers will lower them prices. I'm getting one and I ain't gonna pay list price.
Re: New Minelab - $2299 for the starter pack $2499 for the standard

I think the pricing is a joke. In 41 years of detecting every single detector I have owned has paid for itself in less than a year (except for one). I'm in Nebraska... no ocean beaches or
Civil War battlefields here.
With the price of gas being what it is how long do you figure it would take for this new marvel to pay for itself (unless you get real lucky)? How much is their next flagship going to cost... $3500?
Minelab's marketing strategy was great! Get everybody all wound up, watch the forums and see how many get so fired up they buy sight unseen and at an unknown price. Then drop the hammer on
them with this ridiculous pricing.

And I'm 64 1/2 years old. I don't care how 'well balanced' this thing is. 5#3oz is 5#3oz. It is HEAVY.
Vent over.

True. But if you want to add the small coil 300.00 and a pair of waterproof headphones 150.00 you are talking way north of 2 grand. I knew the day might come, but not so soon for taking a loan out for a detector. I hope there is enough treasure in the ground to pay for all these new Minelabs.
