Ground mineralization
April 18, 2013 02:33AM
Hi,

I have two detectors,Omega 8000 and a G2....what is considered mild soil as far a numbers go...
My ground balance setting in my area are around 61 to 64 with the omega and 78 to 82 with the G2, is this considered a mild soil or a higher mineralized soil?

Thanks

As far as the numbers go.......... This is only an indication of the 'type' of dirt............ and has nearly nothing to do with 'how bad' the dirt is.

I believe the G2 has an FE/O 7 bar graph on it the same as the Gold Bug Pro does (same machine just a different rod configuration) - that's what tells you how mineralized the soil is

it's explained in the manual - pg 24 (I have the GBP)

Ok... I found my answer in the omega manual... guess I should have looked first.

The Fe3O4 4-segment bargraph indicates the amount of ground mineralization,
independent of type, expressed as an equivalent volume concentration of
magnetite (Fe3O4).INDICATION % Fe3O4 SUSCEPTIBILITY
4 Bars -High 0.4 - 1.6 1,000 - 4,000
3 Bars -Medium 0.1 - 0.4 250 - 1,000
2 Bars -Low 0.025 - 0.1 60 - 250
1 Bars -Very Low 0.006 - .025 15 - 60
none - - less than .006 less than 15

thanks
