Disc settings for the 1266x

I'm wondering for those who still use a 1266x what they set the Disc 1 at? I know that at 4 mine still accepts thin 14kt rings.I'm wondering with the disc set at 4 if it would still accept $1.an $2.50 gold coins.I will be hunting some really old sites this year and hoping to find my first gold coin.

I seem to recall around 3-1/3......for Disc 1. It is your choice where to set Disc 2.

Been a while since I used one but think the 4 is a bit high for the $1.00 and would feel probably closer to 3 would be my guess...Basically $1.00 is low foil and $2.00 around nickle or just above..however mineralization, tilted coin, next to junk etc. could alter the reading a tad either way...so have to leave some room for error lest you go right over the top of one...

Thanks a lot guys. I will keep Disc 1 at or just a tad below 3 just to stay on the safe side.
