They are no longer being made, but my detecting friend in Finland, that made that nail board video, still owns that particular C.scope 990 metal detector.

I just talked to him about the video on the phone and he may be willing to sell his still working detector, but he was unsure about the selling prize.

C-scope, made in UK?? I've always wondered why more Euro machines didn't get marketed or show up here in the US.. Now it seems a few are showing up-with great performance too.

Yes, they are still being made in England.

I was stationed in England from 2001-2003. I could kick myself in the butt. Wish I would have been into detecting then. Has an old park (large) across street from where I lived. Never really ever saw anyone in it either. I would cut across regularly to go to local pub. No telling what was in it. The house I lived in over there was 150 years old-good shape too. Nothing like digging coins with super old dates. I wouldn't have cared if silver or not.

Great video James,

Allot of those old vintage TR's including ours will pass this nail-board test, but from my past experiences with TR's from the UK had a edge with small iron separation and they continued to mass produce them much longer than we did in fact they still make a few TR's.

My best TR with small iron separation from the UK was a Viking V5, Great in iron patches better than our Compass TR's but didn't handle uneven or disturbed dirt very well. As long as the ground was level the Viking V5 operated great, But in disturbed soil or uneven ground a nightmare keeping the turner threshold smooth.

Hi James,

How the hell are ya? Long time no hear! Have always wondered about you...I believe the LAST time we commd was in ' 09...
I'm great.
Gone from ML.
So how's the Family?

Yeah, some of those 'older' machines can be quite good unexpectedly!
Case in point: a Compass 77B is TOPS on a trashy river foreshore as is an old "Saxon" (a UK machine)

Hi Des

Family are well, my son is 4 years old now, nearly ready for his first detector!
Still using the xterra 70, had to sell my Explorer 2 due to shoulder /neck pain......very hard to replace on pasture!

Will be buying a new detector in the next few weeks......so many choices.......what can match/better an Explorer 2 on pasture???
Strange that Bulgarian and Turkish detectors are high on my list.....big change from 10 years ago

Yes I saw you parted with Minelab...and production to Malaysia.......bad luck that .......corporate ruthlessness....we got it here as well.

I have developed an interest in old non motion detectors....might collect a few.....always wanted a 77B but so hard to get a good working one.

yeah!..the experiences i had with 'high frequency" tr's
was similar. they faded because lacking in depth...in my experience,5"
maybe 6" tops,BUT with the most beautiful "modulated" audio you will ever hear
especially on the "compass" judge 6,AND the" whites" 4 db both 100 khz detectors.
