And believe it or not this slight tweak took all the weight off my forearm...

i swung it about 5 hours yesterday walking...and felt as good as swinging a F19 at the end of the day..!!

actually feels better in my hand now..I used a F19 upper pole as a guide for angle..

How did you (by what means) did you change the angle Keith?------On other words---how'd ya do it???? smiling smiley

Did you angle it forward(towards the coil ) or backwards? Sure wish they would have made it the T2/G2 pistol grip.

Thinking the grip needed to be more vertical to be more ergonomic .

Isn't that a bit risky---from "egging" the shaft?-----Maybe I'm missing something.-----Wish you had a "before & after" picture!------What degree change from the original grip angle would you "guestimate" was made (less than the almost vertical grip)?-------Interesting post Keith.

According on if it's your first time or 50th time Del...LOL..

but seriously if you take your time and don't push it further than you should it will be fine....it would actually be harder to take it from lazy-s to the stock position of the Racer than going back the way I did to the Fisher Shape..

How do I know when I've pushed it further than I should?---Or do I just yell OH SH-- at that point??------Seriously, I think it's a great idea & I may well try it when I get real brave! smiling smiley

Hey Del.

You may like it stock????

they may tweak the angle a bit by release..

I mainly posted it to show the factory the angle I like..

Personally I like the angle it is as it seems to give me three different places to grip the 'S' shaft if fatigue
becomes a factor - But in saying that Keith I havent put the same amount of hours on the Racer as you and I
am still a relative novice in this hobby -

I totally understand why some may KNEED to adjust the angle -

Cheers

The angle is due to different heights of people and how far in or out you like the coil . Kieth needs his longer and the coil probably farther out so has a different angle on the detector shaft. A shorter person probably would like it the way it is.

Only having pictures to go by to this point, it does look a little too sharp of an angle. I thought about doing the same thing after I try it out. I like the shape of the Gold Bug Pro or the older whites IDX series. I was thinking about how to re-shape it without mangling it. I thought about wrapping the rods in padding and clamping it in a vise.

Very True Rick..

Im 6.1" and the angle of the handle when in last hole on shaft coupled with rear lug coil mounts causes stress on the forearm.. epsecially when walking fopr extenede periods of time...

not as bad in one spot for a few hours ..Small coil works well with stock angle...Stock coil works well if you are not in last hole....

Lazy S helps extend to last setting on pole and still allows the weight to transfer under the forearm not on top..

Yes Pistol grip would be Awesome on this unit...but it would also look like a T2 then....

I used a heat blanket made for forming rigid conduit on another machine, you have to be careful and go slow but it works.

I've always wondered if it was possible for something of a modular detector be created so accommodations could be made on console and switch positioning as well as handle angles. Maybe on the Racer an adjustable joint with a wing nut at the top and bottom of the handle area to allow for a custom fit. We can adjust rod length and coil angles, usually the cuffs, why not more adjustments where you hang on to the thing?

Uh-oh! I have a Racer on order and I'm 6'6" tall.
(That's about 198.5 centimeters, for foreign readers.)

Am I going to need an extension or something?
(My Tesoro Vaquero works fine for me at its maximum
length, but I wouldn't want it any shorter.)

Hard to say...according on arm length..

Funny on the Core it uses the same lower pole as the Racer and same middle pole also...But its way long on the CoRe...actually if you put the Core in the last hole the cable would not be long enough to make it to the control box.....

but on the Racer in the last hole its perfect for me....

On the CoRe I have to go back 3 holes and its still pretty long..

the differences is the top pole handle..on the CoRe it is a long pole with different angle grip ,,, the Racer shorter upper pole and different angle grip...

Thanks, Keith. I guess I'll only know after I get my Racer and try it out.
I do notice that I tend to sweep my detector closer to my feet than
some people do. They sweep it way out in front of them. Maybe
my "near-sweep" techniques will make the Racer long enough
for me. If not, I'll see if Makro/Nokta can make a longer pole
available, or I'll see if I can drill new holes so I can extend it longer.

A little off topic, on topic,... the F19 with it's brisk sweep needed for deeper targets and me being fairly tall.
Well it burnt up my allready manky shoulder in a 2 hour session.

So ran off to get myself another X-terra 705 Gold Pack. It's fine with a slower sweep and the entire machine is longer :-)

Ergonomics need to be spot on with a machine requiring a fast sweep,... inertia is something weird of you're combating it the whole time.

Hey John...the F19 is a little short when fully exteneded...I ordered the Bounty hunter lower rods for 9.99 a piece....they are the same rods Fisher uses just 6 inches longer...

works great with the longer rods...

Bending pipes can be difficult.

The risk of breaking instead of bending will be less if the pipe is filled with sand.

Maybe not possible with machines that have wires from housing to rear but with other machines it is best to fill them.

I'll have to get me some,...yesterday I headed for the river and wetted a line for a couple of hours.
Didn't catch anything,... but boy it was great to get away from the family!!

They seem to think my day off I NEED company.
Nah,... just me escaping for a few hours of cold sunshine :-)

Anyway,... need to get that lower shaft extended for us larger than average folks!
