While this would be awesome to see, it wouldn't really tell us much because younger folks will dig at a much faster rate than older ones. It's pretty much a guarantee that someone walking around and cherry picking gold for eight hours will not find as many goodies as someone who digs like a gopher for 8 hours. I'm fairly young, and I can't dig for that long in lawns BTW.

Exactly
I'm turning 83 in June
But I still get out

I am sure I pass up some gold but I guess I am happy with the ones I do get without digging every tab and piece of can slaw. Passing on some of the gold yes I am sure a lot of it, do I still get fooled by some tabs and some can slaw, sure but I work 6 days a week and detecting time is short but the rings I did get with the V3i I would dig again with the VDI and nice round tone. The V3i will give you a great deal of info. Yes I leave a lot, maybe a majority of gold jewelry in the ground, but I am more then pleased with my results. F5 is a good inland detector also.

I got to chime in here. While I haven't dug any gold with the v3i yet, i can definitely prove this:

"If for example the expert V3i user can correctly identify even 20 percent correct of signals detected and evaluated and a dig me decision is made this would be significant."

I got about 25 hours of experience with the v3i and these are just a few of the things I picked up already. In general, in low mineral ground(not pertaining to gold), I can tell, with 66% certainty, what is under the coil. Zinc pennies are ALWAYS spot on. I can tell iron falsing better than the etrac, f75, ctx, and deus. I can identify deep iron. I can see the phase angle of the signal, so, i can determine "Iron wrap-around", bottle caps(easily), position of the target in the ground(coins), and size of the targets. I CAN tell the difference between a silver dime and a clad dime at 8 inches(just like an etrac or ctx can tell silver from clad). Seems like a lot of boasting, and I am sorry for that(I dislike being a metal detector fan-boy as all detectors have strengths and weaknesses), however, the V3i, in the hands of someone who understands it, can be, THE detector for all your needs.

Back to the topic, can the V3i cherry pick gold? With all the visual tools available, I'm sure to some extent, it can.

BTW, I had a great week detecting that I am gonna post and I am still working on V3i stuff.
