All modern machines have voltage regulation inbuilt.
So as batteries deplete the voltage regulator provides a regulated output to allow all functions to remain working to designed capacity.
Older analogue machines suffered from a performance and subsequent depth loss.
Of late X-Terras and the F19 reduce speaker volume as power is used up to keep you going in the hunt.

"I've been watching detecting 'fora' virtually on a non-stop basis since 1999
It was part of my job to do so, to watch, not necessarily to participate.
Gradually as the years progressed I was drawn into some of them and I'm glad that I did: I've made some wonderful friendships and have shared great information.
A decline in participation was noted around 2007.

Pacman,
My advice would be to give that one a skip and think about another model.
Heavy, clunky, loves iron, in all my years testing all makes AND models, I hated that one the most, followed by the F2...
Nowadays, Fisher & Teknetics are making some really brilliant and light machines.
For example, G2, F 19, F 75, T2 Ltd etc
Just my 2c worth!

Come on Minelab...why do you refuse to do that? Just last week I had a conversation with the "Global Product Manager" and [ asked him nicely ] to do a few things for us!"

I feel a few New units perhaps??
Minelab did the same thing...intro'd the "Pro" coil for the E Trac befor that came out!?
Yeah, I wouldn't mind swingin' a New Tesoro down the road!!"

A disappointing build that is more than likely going to result in easy breakages?
Found it hard to draw the arm rest out.
The lower shaft doesn't appear to have any height blocker...it just pulls out and goes back up when the coil hits the floor!!!
But, the display on the 60 [ illuminated ] is class...BRITE and WH

In reply to your Q: hit or flop?
Too early to say really but [ canslawhereo ] said it fairly well...
?Rumor has it a bunch of never-held-or-used-or-owned-non-detectorist-marketing-new-staff-at-HQ "created it" and the IPhone app was THE USP of it!! (unique selling point)?
But, truth be told, I'd like one to pop in the backpack!!!

Do this - move the CTX's coil AWAY from your body at a 45degree angle - this usually eliminates INT
You will likely have some INT when both detector coil AND pointer face the same way

It's all in the 'ohms'
...and how headphones are wired...
Some phones can cause a depth loss as you have seen.
Dan from Pa is on the right track...opposing brands / manufacturers and using phones from one or another might be a mis-match and be mostly incompatible?
Last year I remember using a combo that turned out to be absolutely terrible...sounded like my head was in a bucket

Tom,
Well done...a really nice find!
Yeah, you're right about using the "Racer"...the Sounds will tell you all!
Hardly ever look at the meter display aside from when starting out first and setting it up!
The "Racer" is all about [ interpreting sounds ] and how it goes about it will be covered (eventually) in a long-winded Test Report.

Hey Phil,
Yeah, a very good and under-rated machine.
My Dealer visits thru the years "said so"...they all agreed it was a great machine.
I'm in a similar situation to you: I have some 'Musketeer' gear For Sale but am not in a huge rush to do it!
Have a bunch of TS800 coils New, a few TS1000 New and used and a Musk XS Pro box as New state.
Oh, also have one of the

Am looking forward to hearing your progress as you go (or your confusion?) so it will be all very interesting!
Several years ago I got to use a Russian job that 'sounds and puts up graphs' similar to the Sorex...it was like a full-time job trying to decipher what it was saying / showing.
But, from what I've heard it is worth persevering with and it can go deep an

I think you're dreaming...
No matter what the machine parks by their very nature will confound nearly all machines...there's NO magic bullet.
But, having said that the older Musketeer with the TS800 coil is hard to beat!

Hey Peacemaker,
During the prototyping of the CTX a few 'meteorites' were checked to gauge "reactions".
These things are small, heavy and pure iron + other substances...
They reacted very well and especially with the small 6" coil.
But, turn off EVERYTHING not required and use Single Tone ONLY.
At the latter stages of the prototyping it was 'reactive' to

The old Teknetics from the 1980's were very accurate on ID's at depth, the old 8000, 8500 and 9000.
You don't see them around now hardly at all?
Next up was the old White's 6000DiPro...that had good separation.
These days, best I've seen would include the Safari...

A beach hunt saw a large cut in the edge of a dune and a large £2 coin was found at depth in the sand and adding up the two put that coin at an original 24"

"Hah!"
Kevin, you'd better be more careful next time but...on my very first relic hunt with the 'Racer', I too took a fall but all that happened was the coil folded on the shaft and was facing UP
Story is, I was working my way up a path and saw some 'large trees' lining an old New Hampshire like stone wall and said to myself, 'nice place to put a cache
