Rick,
"White's" are the masters...not Teknetics or Fisher!
Having Tested both the 75 and 19, I can honestly attest to then being jobbies...
Enjoy your Tests and don't forget to tell us your thoughts!

Was testing at the coast yesterday and filmed the New Nokta pin pointer underwater...
Was very pleased with it and it didn't "drown" or fail the Test in any way?
It was able to sound off and vibrate both picked up on film.
The aspect I was most pleased with was, the speaker kept working after an immersion time of around 30 mins.
My CTX speaker used 'crap out' fo

Kevin,
Good one: I've heard about this happening albeit, many years ago with 'older technology'
Were you close to a metal bridge by any chance? From what I gleaned at the time I heard about this occurring, folks were close to or directly beneath bridges!!?
What headphones had you on at the time?

"It's my wild guess that White's have designed and built [ a few ] models but decided to not introduce them?
They [ might have ] gone further with multi-frequency i.e. more than 2 and might not have been happy with that either?
They are probably a bit [ gun-shy ] now after several re-hash jobs and a few 'over-engineered' ones e.g. V3, and know whatever they do next will

Hi 88 Junior,
No, probably not much can be done by simply wrapping the cable in something else?
After years of making coils and experimenting with different cables, about the only thing you 'could do' is, to wire in a series of "ferrites" and best placed at the coil connector area.

Dew,
My apology: never answered your Q.
No. No 'overloading' on the sands.
No. I could hover very close to the surface.
Yes. Would raise it up as I encountered obstacles.
Didn't yet pass the coil thru seaweed which as we all know, does cause 'falsing' in many machines.
Am guessing 'Iodine' levels can be conductive? Will work on that next week.

Hey Dew,
What's up? Thanks for the Q's.
Yes. There is some real good depth with the 6" (actually 5" x 4.5"): some very good 'un-masking' too.
As for beach work with the small coil, on open sand I'd say 'twould be a waste of energy. But, in the rock pools it is very good.
I'm currently Field Testing 'Racer' with both coils and th

When the 1270 came out I gave it two weeks and it never impressed in any way whatsoever.
Probably the worst Fisher I've used!
it's still out in the back...unloved...

They are a 'cracker' of a coil.
Have dug multiple targets in holes...and it's deep...not too far off the Stock 11"...
No, I don't work for Minelab (anymore...)

Headphones for the FORS is a critical choice to success with it...
It can be a lousy unit with the wrong headphones!!
So I am taking the same approach with the 'Racer' Didn't even take the cheap Koss set out of the packet it had been shipped with.
On a daily basis I'm selecting a different set including: Sony, Koss, Predator, Sennheisser, Troy.

Hey Kev,
Fair play...your last post is true of many searchers: always thinking a 'newer' unit will be [ better? ]
Reason I favor the 'Racer' at the moment is last few weeks at one really trashy [ and worked out ] site it produced a few "surprises", documented here on Tom's Forum (Ref: Thread reference I think was small coil hunt in a park) BUT,

In this hobby there will be days you'll go home with zero finds! After 38 years of 'huntin', I would swear to that on a bible!
Just the way it is.
A LOT depends on Mood - if in a 'good n positive mood' it can help!
However, IMHO [ it sounds like ] you have already made up your mind [ not to ] favor the 'Racer'
OK. That's fine, it's a free country a

A few days ago, I got to test the 'Racer' at 2 saltwater beaches in conjunction with a PI unit.
What I can say is the 'Racer' appears to have some extra ground filtering (salt) active.
BUT, it still remains very sharp to various conductivities albeit with a [ sensitivity ] drop especially in the very wet and right at the surf line.
However, the GB function is extremely good

Hi Beyonder,
Yeah, understandable why you're selling...
"A diet of Wheaties" is definitely on the Menu if swinging that coil for any length of time...
Even worse is making your way in and out of a chosen site...HEAVY
But, on the + side, it does retain good sensitivity to small buttons etc. (for it's size)

MAKRO, (Dilek) posted the following on the Findmall forum:
Hello all.... as we see a lot of posts on the Racer overload situation, we wanted clarify it for you:
The electronic gain of the RACER consists of 3 levels to eliminate the internal electromagnetic noise and to adjust the saturation level. The electronic gain change points correspond to levels 39 and 69 on the Gain setting. In case

Thru the years I have driven thousands of miles, put gas in my car, eaten many a lunch out and have even stayed in HOtels overnite...in order to get a Field Test completed over many weeks / months.
Payment for a Field Test Report by either the manufacturer or a publisher is a small price to pay for all of that. Payment can be accepted in an 'up front' deal to be allowed keep a

'On the Overload function, I actually like it!
Was on site this morning where I have run several others units and there's a lot of iron, but, not too deep as it is tilled regularly: currently lying in stubble.
But, the Overload is quick to cut in and like I said, I like it compared to other units where the Overload function (if they have it) can often take many passes to kick in.

Hi Tom,
How are you...
Yes, you're right.
I've had dozens of machines thru the years and in my opinion, the CENTER rod is LONGER than the norm!
Am the opposite of you: around 5' 6", so I have it set short...
With the small coil on the balance AND comfort for me is BRILL
Enjoy your 'Racer'...Good Hunting

It's now quite feasible that they will work on some software upgrades.
Now that they have the time to allocate to the task it is quite possible.
They work [ in blocks ] on a project or two with [ teams ] assigned to [ specific blocks ] and nothing else - no crossover.
Once [ a block ] is completed then those personnel are then either "re-contracted" to work on 'New Projects

Have had a LOT of 'on-edge' coins in my time.
The BBS and FBS 'tectors are good at it.
Deus bad and stopped using IT last summer when I was "looking at" coins on edge sticking out of the sand while the coil glided silently across them!!

OK guys...
I should Preface this by saying, the piece of ground I was on yesterday has been worked with EVERY detector and coil combination, originally worked in 1977, a few gap years, but worked extensively since 1999 to present.
EVERY Minelab had been prototyped there including the original Explorer thru CTX, X-Terra etc and all of the above with small coils also.
What happened yesterday w

Well, 2 hunts in with the 'Racer' and it's proving to be the proverbial cracker!! (apologies to Florida natives, no slur intended LOL)
NB:
It's imperative to GB properly
Adjust to the appropriate Gain for the soil you're on. (Yeah I know...how to suck eggs...but, this thing is super sensitive, almost too powerful compared to more expensive rivals) I AM digging deep

On a visit to Boston last fall I visited 'The Holy Grail' "Dick's Sporting Goods" in Dedham Mall and picked up a pair of "MANZELLA Ranger form fit hunt gloves". (classed as WARM)
Now I wish that I had spent more ...in other words two other pairs!
At Retail $14.99 they were a great buy.
But, just as other posters have said, when using other gear they should
