The problem with cherry picking silver is that there are too many variables to affect the ID numbers and tones..
Worn, tilted, or deep silvers routinely read below what we think they should on the ID scale..
Those who think they are cherry picking with the CTX and E-Trac are passing silver coins if they are only digging the
warble or fluty signals with the 46 or higher conductive number..

Copper pennies and silver dimes share the same conductive range..
I don’t do of any detector that can identify one from the other 100% of the time..

Too bad it only works via Z-Lynk..
I would get one if it worked with my Equinox Wireless Headphones or any other Bluetooth for that matter..

The CTX is more refined, which makes for a pleasant park hunt..
It and the E-Trac have been my main coin shooting detectors for close to 4 years now..
The Equinox is as powerful, if not more. And much, much faster..
I am pulling coins close to nails at a much higher rate then both the CTX and E-Trac..
It’s not an overwhelming advantage in a park setting though..

I have and do use both.. I primarily hunt in 50 Tones while park hunting but when I get in to a parking strip which is a nightmare
of modern trash, and I want to cherry pick, I use the 5 Tone program in my above post.. You ca

You have more control in 5 Tones because you can set the tone and volume for your desired targets..
I set up a cherry picking program for curb strip hunting on my User Mode where everything 18 and up is the highest tone and volume..
Everything below that is tone 1 with real low volume.. All those signals, including a lot of the falsing will come across as a quiet puttering sound..

I just started recording, mainly because I thought I could learn from watching myself
by going back over the videos and seeing what my detector was doing when I found it..
I figured If I end up with some decent footage that I would put it up on YouTube to share with others..
I have no desire to monetize the channel or gain a large following..
My problem is that I keep forgetting to turn it

Speaking of the Equinox and Nickels..
I scored a 1906 V today and better yet a 1913 S Type 2 Buffalo! That’s the good one..
Continued my experiment today and so far the 12-13 only theory still holds..
any flash of 11 or 14 and it wasn’t a Nickel..

If you don’t mind the risk of missing things and want to dig more Nickels and less trash, only dig the 12 and 13s.
Every Nickel I have found so far has been 12 and mostly 13.. Never a different number..
If it flashes 11 or 14 even once it will be a rolled up or broken Beaver Tail or slaw of some kind..
I haven’t found a War Nickel yet but I would assume it might hit 14 or so if not 13..

A wireless probe through the Bluetooth headphones with at least iron ID would be very nice..
I tried the SunRay Probe on my E-Trac and did not like it at all.. Way to slow, heavy and cumbersome.
Pinpointers seem to be a very personal choice.. I have had great success with my Carrot.. Some people hate it..
I did just pick up a Minelab Pro-Find 35 with the Iron ID.. I have only had it out on

I wasn’t going to post this video because it was my first, and I really wasn’t prepared..
I was carrying around a new GoPro that I hadn’t found a mount for yet when I found my gold coin..
It’s not real polished and I was acting half goofy after the find, but here it is..
Finding your first Gold Coin definitely affects your thinking and actions..
Wish I would have thought to do a live dig..

Sube did some cross checking with his Equinox and CTX in the wild.
He found 3 coins with the Nox next to iron that the CTX would not sound off on..
Target trace picked them up but couldn’t get any audio..
He also commented on the good depth of the Nox with several 8-9 inch coins..

Only took me 26 years Tom. Your getting close..
It’s a park I hit somewhat regularly..
It’s been pounded to death but obviously still gives up a keeper now and then..

Thanks everyone!
I’m glad I have this place to share my find!
I have learned so much from you all..
Without the knowledge that I have gained from both Tom and Steve’s forums,
I wouldn’t have near the success that I have had over the last few years..
It’s no doubt that some of the best in the hobby call these forums home..

Eastern Washington State Tom..
Not exactly the kind of place you imagine finding a gold coin..
That definitely added to the shock value since I never realistically thought I would find one..
My mind has been opened!

I never thought I would be writing this post..
After chasing what I thought was going to be an Indian Head Cent.
My fortune changed when it turned out to be a 1910 Indian Half Eagle Gold Coin!
Shocked is in understatement.. I was heading back to the truck with about 5 minuets left in the hunt..
A fantastic way to end the day for sure!
Found in an early 1900s city park with the Equinox 800..

I get what your saying Rick..
The subject was CZ-5 vs Equinox 800 and if the CZ-5 was 93% of the Equinox 800..
Even if you just consider Coin hunting which is the CZs thing I would say nowhere near 93%..
Just my opinion though..
It’s a good thing we all have choice what to run..

If GoPro users select Linear Mode it will not record with the Fisheye affect..
You lose some of your super wide field view though.

I’m always amazed at how much jewelry my friend finds with his V3i while we are out primarily coin hunting..
I definitely think it would be worth your while putting some funds into that unit Knowing how much you are in to your Jewelry hunting..

For at least the time being the Nox seems to be making sales of other brand detectors obsolete..
My dealer just sold his first non Equinox detector since the Nox release..
He gets several inquiries every day for the Nox..
Maybe sales for other Detectors will start up again after the smoke clears..
If not, this Nox release might finally light a fire under the rest of the company’s keesters
